A skilled executive with more than two decades operating multifaceted organizations, Charles Clement serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). 2. Introduction
 A skilled executive with more than two decades operating multifaceted
organizations, Charles Clement serves as the president and chief
executive officer of the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium
(SEARHC). Charles Clement also supports the efforts of the Alaska
Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), which administers health
training and education initiatives such as a series of Alaska Dental
Therapy Education Programs (ADTEP).
ADTEP provides dental therapists in rural communities with the
necessary education to meet the oral healthcare needs of Alaska Native
peoples. A community-driven solution, the programs establish culturally
appropriate dental education and promote the availability of routine
dental services in Alaska Native communities. Furthermore, the
programs contribute to improved oral health by increasing preventive
care for cavities and dental issues that lead to oral diseases.
Since its launch in 2004, ADTEPs have expanded to reach more than
40,000 Alaska Native people across 81 rural communities. A partnership
with the Ilisgavik Tribal College enables the offering of an associate’s
degree in dental therapy.
