Gray whales migrate annually between feeding grounds in the Arctic and breeding grounds in Baja California. They make a long journey with their mothers, feeding along the way. The migration can be dangerous for calves, but mothers stay closely connected to guide their babies safely. Gray whales travel over 10,000 miles each year between summer feeding in the Arctic and winter breeding in warm waters.
