This document summarizes a student project to build a plane launcher inspired by the inventions of Al-Jazari, a 12th-13th century Arab inventor. The student built the launcher entirely from recycled materials like wood and CDs for a maker event. The project was presented to dignitaries including HH Sheikh Hammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, where the plane launcher demonstrated its ability to launch a plane, gaining appreciation from the audience. The project was an homage to Al-Jazari, who invented over 100 devices through trial and error, including a water-lifting twin cylinder device used widely in Iraq.
