Airline Fares By: Stevenrae Dimas, Jesus Romero, Jasberth Morales
This project In this project we had to get two airlines With six different cities and compare the prices. Our goal was to find a more “convenient” price between the two. To explain the cost of each mile.
Data 1631 New York 958 Chicago 832 San Diego 1097 Memphis 1693 Baltimore 1079 New Orleans Distance
Prices (in dollars) Here are the prices to each city (from Denver) for united airlines Price (united airlines) New Orleans 351 Baltimore 795 Memphis 448 San Diego 234 Chicago 242 New York 311
Prices (In Dollars) 469 New York 281 Chicago 243 San Diego 340 Memphis 270 Baltimore 540 New Orleans Price (Frontier) Here are the prices to each city (from Denver) for frontier
Scatter Plot
Equations Trend lines Y=0.3974x-85.955 - Frontier Y=0.0701x+272.02 – United
Line of best fit Y=0.3974x-85.955 is the equation for Frontier airlines and this best fits the data that is scattered for those cities.
Best Airline The best (cheapest) airline is Frontier Airlines Although it cost more per mile the overall cost is a lot cheaper
Slope In this situation slope represents cost per mile. Frontier charges 0.3974 per mile the slope is 0.3974/1 United Airlines charges 0.0701 per mile the slope is 0.0701/1
Y- intercept The y- intercept represents how much each airline is charging Frontier charges -85.955 So the y-intercept is -85.955 United Airlines charges 272.02 So the y- intercept 272.02
New Scenario We had to pick a city to go to but it had to be under $500
We chose to go from Denver to New york The distance is 1631 miles So it would cost $469 The cost per mile is $3.477
The reason we chose this one is because we can go farther and it costs less
