The live session will be presented by Kathryn Perera. She will be joined by Jodeme Goldhar from the Change Foundation in Canada and Ian Baines, who leads the ProjectA programme for NHS Horizons.
We’ll be discussing the various concepts we’ve introduced in School, and how they can be applied in real health and care settings. We’ll talk through various examples and allow an opportunity to discuss what you’ve learned with others.
The Square Kilometre Array Organisation (SKAO) is in the process to start construction of what will be the largest research facility in the world, with two radio interferometers generating each one petabyte of data per day, which will be distributed by a network of SKA Regional Centres (SRCs). Construction is expected to start after the establishment of the SKA Observatory Inter-Governmental Organisation by mid 2021, and last for around 6 years after that. However, we are already prototyping the software development processes that will help us align the work of around 150 full-time equivalent people around the world. In this talk we will show what are the current agile software development processes at SKAO, how we are already leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) to provide alignment across the world-wide community of developers and other contributors, and how we will be managing the full software lifecycle of it during construction and beyond.

DevOps in the enterprise is interesting because there is more to it that Dev + Ops: we also have DevSecOps, BizDevOps, and Database DevOps to take into consideration, not to mention the realities of support and release management in an established enterprise. Because every organization is different, one strategy, one “process size”, does not fit all. Worse yet, every organization faces a changing environment within which it operates, so not only does it need a WoW that meets its current needs it needs to know how to evolve that WoW as its situation evolves.

Disciplined strategies that produce light-weight, yet still sufficient, artifacts are the key to your success. This presentation explores both the success factors and failure factors surrounding EA, pragmatic strategies for a lean/agile approach to EA, and how EA is supported and enhanced by the Disciplined Agile framework. This isn’t your grandfather’s EA strategy.

Technical Excellence Doesn't Just Happen--Igniting a Craftsmanship CultureAllison Pollard
The ninth principle from the Agile Manifesto states that technical excellence enhances agility, but when the codebase is ugly and the deadlines are tight, most teams don’t choose to refactor mercilessly, adopt TDD, or evaluate automated testing tools—unless they have the proper support. In our experience working with multiple teams in a single codebase, developers can feel victim to a legacy codebase if only a few people are writing clean code or refactoring; guiding them on how to decrease technical debt while delivering their projects helps "unstuck" their other agile practices. We will talk about the challenges we’ve seen with Product Owners, Managers, and Scrum Masters interacting with teams at various stages of agile+technical excellence and how a focus on technical practices sparked a wider interest in craftsmanship. Learn how can you influence the team towards the right practices while fostering their sense of ownership. Getting serious about technical excellence requires support from technical and non-technical roles, and we’ll share how we partnered as coaches to help an organization through a technical turnaround with some tips for others who need to do the same.
This case study deals with the creation, migration and maintenance of all websites of Arkema, the biggest French chemical company.
A quick overview will firstly be drawn about both Arkema and Eurelis companies, to better understand how we have been organizing to centralize all Arkema's websites.
Then, two different OpenCms platforms will be described, both internet and intranet platforms: which architecture has been chosen, how they have been set up and configured to host around 45 sites each. Also, it will be presented an overview regarding how the projects have been managed to guarantee their success, and how the deployment of all websites have been handled including a quick presentation of the training for every contributor.
After, a focus on the evolutions occurred upon the last 3 years will be depicted, particularly concerning the product and range pages, making the Front-End responsive and the OpenCms technical migrations.
Finally, thoughts regarding the future of both platforms will be shared.
Management is so important on agile delivery teams that we do it every single day, but that doesn't imply that we
need team managers. Having said that, there are still some manager roles needed, albeit far fewer than in the past, when we scale agile both tactically and strategically within our IT organizations. So where do the rest of the
managers go?
This presentation examines what happens to traditional managers when their organization adopts agile and lean strategies. We work through the implications of several critical forces that enable us to thin out the ranks of middle management. First, agile methods push many technical management tasks into the hands of the team, thereby taking that work away from managers. Second, leadership tasks are assigned to new team roles such as the Product Owner, the Team Lead/Scrum Master, and the Architecture Owner. Third, the move away from a project-based mindset to a product-based one results in stable teams that require far less functional/resource management. Fourth, application of business intelligence technologies to implement automated team and portfolio dashboards reduces the need for manual status reporting.
Some management-oriented work remains. Teams that haven't yet automated reporting will find that someone needs to track and report progress. Large teams, also known as program teams, will likely need a Program Manager or more accurately a Program Coordinator. To support IT-level functions you are likely to need people in roles such as Portfolio Manager, Operations Manager, Help Desk Manager, and Community of Practice (CoP) Lead. Managers are still clearly needed, but in practice there tends to be far fewer management positions within agile organizations than what we find in traditional ones. This implies that many existing managers will need to reskill and transition into one of the new agile roles. The good news is that there is room for everyone within agile if they're willing to learn new skills and change with the times.

Building upon well established Scrum, XP, and lean software development methods, agile scaling frameworks such as Dean Leffingwell's Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Scott Ambler's Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) address large, complex software delivery initiatives through their full delivery lifecycle from project initiation to production. These frameworks have received significant interest in both federal government and private industries, recognizing the need for continued team-based iterative and incremental adaptive approaches to software development, balanced with scaling processes and factors at the Program and Portfolio levels and organizational governance models and guidance for large enterprise engagements. This session will provide a brief overview of these two agile scaling models, address the benefits of what both are trying to accomplish, and compare and contrast specific similarities and differences.

De ses débuts aux Etats-Unis et désormais dans de très nombreux pays, le mois de juin est traditionnellement consacré aux « Marches des Fiertés » et à des événements festifs autour du concept de Pride. A cette occasion, Ipsos a réalisé une enquête dans vingt-six pays dressant plusieurs constats. Les clivages des opinions entre générations s’accentuent tandis que le soutien à des mesures sociétales et d’inclusion en faveur des LGBT+ notamment transgenres continue de s’effriter.
