Aim of the meeting:

The aim of the workshop is to make the participants familiar with legal situation on
recruitment and hiring the workers according to standards of the European Union.
This workshop will also cover the programming process of projects financed by the
European Social Fund (Human Capital Operational Programme).

During the event the following EU legislation will be addressed:

1. Directive 2002/73/EC on the implementation of the principle of equal treatment for
men and women as regards access to employment, vocational training and promotion
and working conditions

2. Directive 2000/34/EC concerning certain aspects of the organization of working
time to cover sectors and activities

3. Directive 2000/78/EC establishing a general framework for equal treatment in
employment and occupation

4. Directive 94/33/EC on the protection of young people at work

Warmińsko-Mazurski Region is facing problems of equal treatment as regard access
to employment. Regional administration and local business do not have enough
knowledge in this field.

In this context, the workshop will be an opportunity for the participants to gain
practical skills in preparing and managing ESF projects. ‘Old’ Member States experts
will share with the participants their experience in such projects.

This workshop will be a two days training combining lectures, open discussions and
work in groups. The results of the work in groups will be discussed by the participants
and the speakers.

The audience is expected to be approximately 50 people of representatives of the
regional and local authorities as well as other stakeholders including representatives
of the business community (small and medium enterprises) and also the
representatives of non- governmental organizations. The participants will come from
three voivodships: Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Podlaskie.
