This document summarizes a seminar on applying social security schemes to employed and self-employed persons. The two-day seminar was held in Prague, Czech Republic and organized by the Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The seminar aimed to exchange information on implementing Regulation 1408/71/EC across EU member states. Presentations were given on the Czech social security system, the origins and evolution of the regulation, Germany's social accident insurance system, and social insurance in Latvia. Flexicurity strategies and optimizing cooperation between EU courts on interpreting the regulation were also discussed.

2. Aim of the meeting:-
To exchange and share the information about the practical implementation of
Regulation 1408/71/EC in some Member States
We would like to gain the overview of the practices in other Member States,
especially those we mostly communicate with because of the handling E - forms.
We expect that the understanding of the other systems will help to implement the
regulation properly and will enhance the cooperation between the liaison bodies and
thus it will help to provide the job seekers with the correct information about their
duties and rights.
