1) Age UK Oldham provides a shopping delivery and safe at home service using a refrigerated delivery van donated by the Co-operative supermarket. 2) They receive around 80 referrals per year mostly from social services, family, and health professionals to help those who are physically frail (51%), housebound (26%), or have memory loss/dementia (15%). 3) Staff take orders, shop at the Co-operative supermarket, check orders through a dedicated till, load the refrigerated van, and deliver the orders with staff putting away groceries in 60% of cases.

- 2. Brief Overview • Age UK Oldham Shopping Service is based at the Co-operative supermarket • A refrigerated delivery van was donated through the charity arm of the Co-operative which is the Co-operative Community Foundation.
- 3. Customer Database • The majority of referrals come from Social Services, family members and health professionals. • Referrals remain constant at around 80 per year. Discharges match that number. - 4. The Shopping Process The day before delivery the Shopping Service operative will ring the customer for the order
- 5. The Shopping Process Non perishables will be shopped and stored and the next morning fresh and frozen goods will be added
- 6. The Shopping Process Orders are checked though a dedicated till by our operatives and loaded into our refrigerated van to be delivered
- 7. The Shopping Process In 60% of cases our staff will put away the shopping
- 8. The Shopping Process Customers can pay by cash or cheque or invoiced via statutory services or families
- 9. The Preventative Agenda • On referral, all clients are visited and assessed • Customers are signposted / referred to other services
- 10. Monitoring • During each visit customer wellbeing is monitored
- 11. Adult Protection Issues Following delivery, staff record any observations or unusual situations for the manager to act upon.
