Aim:
       To inspire older people to think about physical activity, to take
       up a new activity or to give the gym a go.

On Gym Open Day older people over the age of 55 had the
opportunity to:
    • Gain free entry to gyms across the country
    • Have gym equipment demonstrations
    • Pick up information and advice on health and wellbeing

Fit with Age UK strategy around health & wellbeing – enabling older people to be more active Background Older people not taking recommended levels of exercise Consumer research told us people wanted to do more and to try something new National gym chains keen to work with Age UK Plus PR Objectives: Highlight the benefits of staying fit and healthy in older age, celebrating ageing and challenge perceptions Position Age UK as the expert in health and wellbeing for people in later life Emphasise Age UK’s services which help older people’s health and wellbeing, including information and advice, to help towards the uptake and reach of services Align the Age UK brand with well-known lifestyle brands, i.e. gyms
