ALTARS: Are mentioned 433x in the Bible!!!!
Abraham was a man who built ALTARS
David was a man who builds altars!!
Jacob was a man who builds altars
Gideon was a man who builds altars
Elijah builds altars
Samuel builds altars
ALTAR:
1. Nothing decorative must be used!! NO ATTENTION must be drawn to the ALTAR!!
2. NO STEPS must be around the altar. As LOW as possible, on the ground.
ALTAR: Sacrifice; Intercession; Communion; Consecration; REVELATION.
ALTAR symbolizes: COMMITMENT!!!!!!!; Laying down your life!!!!!!!! The animal is sacrificed in your place,
represents your life!!!.
Zacharias (Old Priest) was ministering at the altar, when the Angel appeared to him and said that they will
have a son (John, the Baptist).
At the time of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ; there were two High Priests. GOD spoke through Moses
and said that there must always be ONLY ONE High Priest. None of these two priests heard the voice of
GOD. The church leadership was very much divided. None of the two High Priests were living a committed
life unto the purpose of GOD.
King Saul was already 42yrs old, had a grown son, before he build his first altar (1 Sam 14:35).
In building an altar the following happens:
REVELATION >> Produces>> CONSECRATION!!!
REVELATION >> Produces >> WORSHIP!!!
REVELATION >> Produces >> OBEDIENCE!!!
REVELATION >> Produces >> SUBMISSION!!!
REVELATION >> Produces >> SELF SACRIFICE
Abraham; IMMEDIATE OBEDIENCE TO GOD
Natural instinct is to hold on to your life.
GOD can only use those who are ‘DEAD’.
Keep our commitment (not go back).

2. Lev 6:9; “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law for the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself
shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and the fire on the altar is to be kept
burning on it.”
Long nights of testing; when NOBODY is around; NO provision; NO support; NO breakthrough; NO
sunshine; NO prayer is answered; it feels as if even GOD has left you?? Many people (leaders) jump off
(remove themselves from) the altar. This is the time when GOD expects you and me to stay on the altar; to
stay in our commitment, which we have made to follow Him, until the end.
Jesus says: If you are not prepared to lay down you life for Him and the Gospel, then you are NOT worthy of
His Kingdom!
2. > How we look at change?
The FIRST thing, which GOD tells Abraham to do; “Get out of your fathers house”!!
His fathers house meant; SECURITY, PERMANENCY, IMMOVABLE, DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE
FUTURE, EARTHLY INHERITANCE.etc.
We are creatures of HABIT, COMFORTABLE SURROUNDINGS.
Constant change was for Abraham the new way of life!!!
He became a sojourner (Hebrews 11:9-10); A tent dweller. He never settled in one place. He was on the
move, looking for the city, which architect and builder is GOD (Hebrews 11: 8-10). Abraham obeyed GOD by
going to a place, which he was to receive as an inheritance. If you want to receive your inheritance, then
you have to OBEY GOD, to make a change, to turn your back on your earthly security.
The church’s biggest problem: WE RESISIT CHANGE; CLING TO OUR DOCTRINE AND TRADITIONS!!
We resist change.
THE BIGGEST ENEMIES OF ANY NEW MOVE OF GOD ARE THE LEADERS OF THE PREVIOUS MOVE
OF GOD.!!!!!!!
3. > How we look at GOD?
In Gen 26 we read about how Isaac opened again all the wells, which his father Abraham dug in his life.
Wells are a recurring symbol of THE WORD of GOD.
Cisterns are for storage; >>> water looses its FRESHNESS
Springs are found on the surface; >>> water are many times POLLUTED
Wells needed to be dug, deep into the earth; >>> water is always FRESH
GOD expects us to be HUNGRY and THIRSTY for HIM and to dig DEEP INTO HIS WORD and into HIM.
We cannot drink from the “cisterns” of religion, OR drink from the “springs” of TRADITION.
Isaiah 55:1-2; John 7:37; Revelations 22:17
History has proven that only those who had a strong hunger for GOD, and who pressed into HIM, were used
by GOD and enjoyed GODS favour, in their lives and ministry (Jeremiah 23:18,22)
