**************************** Africa A,B,C Book *************************
Book Due Date________________________
Each student will create an Africa A,B,C Book. This book will consist of a cover
page, a table of contents and 26 pages, one for each letter of the alphabet. The cover page
must have your name and your partner’s name, your class or classes and a title. For each
page of your book, you will select a key word that that in some way relates to Africa. For
example, Diamonds could be used for the letter “D” because diamonds are found in
South Africa. Each page also needs a drawing, you may include photographs, but a hand
drawn picture must also be included. Please include a border on each page as well as
typing at least six sentences as a caption for each page. Please put your book together
inside of a thin 3-ring binder. A rubric will be used to grade for neatness, creativity, and
understanding of Africa.
************************** The Book Needs at Least ************************
3-- Exported Goods (What is made in Africa and shipped to other countries?)
3-- Famous Landmarks (What are some famous buildings or other pieces of
Architecture?)
3-- Cultural Items (Anything that displays the culture of the continent. Examples should
include types of food, music, languages, etc.
3-- Locations (This can be any city or country of Africa)
3-- Ethnic Groups or Tribes of Africa
3-- Famous People from History in Africa (Give 3 people who have done something
great IN Africa)
3-- Animals of Africa
5-- Landforms (These need to be specific, please do not just simply put “Mountains” for
“M.” However, you are more than welcome to use Atlas Mountains for A.
*************************** Table of Contents ***************************
The second page of your book should be a section shows which words you used for each
of the categories.
Exports Locations Animals
Bananas Ghana Hyena
Diamonds Kenya Wildebeest
Oil South Africa Zebra
Advice: It is very important that you complete your Table of Contents BEFORE you
begin doing your research. You must make sure that you have fulfilled all of the required
categories and may have to switch some words around, which is much easier to do before
you start doing your research.
*************************** With a Partner ***************************
This can either be a solo project or I will allow you to have one other partner (Please do
not ask if you can work in groups of three or more as your request will be denied).
However, I strongly suggest that you choose a partner that will do equal the amount
of work that you do, I will not listen to students complain that their partners are
making them do all of the work. I urge you to consider your choice of partner before
you tell me your final decision. I will be passing around a sign-up sheet for you to write
your partner’s name, or if you will be doing this on your own. Thank you and have fun
with this.
