The test report provides results for substances restricted under the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU in a sample submitted by a client. Testing was conducted from June 8-10, 2015 on a black soft sheet material. Test results showed lead content of 6 mg/kg and all other regulated substances including cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBBs, and PBDEs were not detected. The report concludes the sample complies with limits set by the RoHS Directive.

Gas chromatography is a common type of chromatography used in analytical chemistry for separating and analyzing compounds that can be vaporized without decomposition. Typical uses of GC include testing the purity of a particular substance or separating the different components of a mixture.

cells and microorganisms that we observe under the microscope lack color and contrast. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, to detect important cellular structures and their distinguishing characteristics without artificially treating specimens. We have already alluded to certain techniques involving stains and fluorescent dyes, and in this section we will discuss specific techniques for sample preparation in greater detail. Indeed, numerous methods have been developed to identify specific microbes, cellular structures, DNA sequences, or indicators of infection in tissue samples, under the microscope.

Practical Implementation of the New Elemental Impurities Guidelines May 2015SGS
The International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) released its Q3D Guideline for Elemental Impurities in December 2014, initiating reviews and changes in quality testing programs in bio/pharmaceutical companies around the world. In advance of the implementation dates, companies need to assess the risks of potential elemental impurities in their process and materials streams.
In this presentation, experts will review the requirements of elemental impurities guidelines from ICH, the European Pharmacopeia, and United States Pharmacopeia, outline practical recommendations to address implementation challenges, and discuss key considerations for analytical testing programs.
Determination of Elemental Impurities – Challenges of a Screening MethodSGS
On Dec. 16, 2014 the ICH Working Group published the elemental impurities guideline into the current version step 4. The aim of this control strategy is to track impurities that may contaminate pharmaceutical products that are potentially contributed by several sources. Additionally, the guideline also focuses on final drug product quality. To ensure that all components & all needed production steps required for a pharmaceutical product demonstrate regulatory compliance, risk assessment will become a priority for every pharmaceutical manufacturer. This approach of testing & documentation can become a major challenge, especially in the consideration of various potential sources.
Evaluation of Commercially Available Biochemical Kit for Assay of Total Calci...Soma Santra
Today’s clinical laboratory practices
involve applying commercially available biochemical
kits (CABK) for estimation of total calcium in
serum. Validating such reagents before estimating
unknown values is desirable before reporting
patient’s result. We have evaluated five CABK for
the determination of serum calcium by ArsenazoIII reagent. After identifying pre-analytical errors
and minimizing them, the kits were assessed for
various important parameters such as Accuracy of
standards, Optimum Reaction time, Linearity range,
Color stability, and Absorption Optima studies.
These kits were randomly assigned as kit A, B, C, D
and E. At outset of study kit-E is removed from
the study due to improper volume and discolored
reagents in supplied mono-vials. Post-calibration
with accreditated calibrator all kits have standard
values close to designated values with %Error of
1.5%. Only kit C and D have shown the good
linearity upto 20mg/dl and 16 mg/dl respectively.
None of the kits have shown the color stability of
upto 120 minutes. Altogether the impact of these
assessed parameters on accuracy of results was
evaluated using accreditated quality control material.
All 3 kits except kit-B showed CV of <3%.
This poster describes analytical operating conditions for analysis of US EPA Method 8260C1, Revision 3, August 2006, and includes BFB tune parameters, calibration details, and a complete MDL and Precision and Accuracy study for almost 100 target compounds at multiple concentrations.
Separation of mercury from VOC’s and selective detection using gold film ama...Jennifer Maclachlan
Presented at the Spring 2015 National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Denver, CO on March 23, 2015 on the Analytical Chemistry Division program track.
Presentation overview:
We used a sensitive but nonspecific photoionization detector (PID) with a 10.6eV lamp to measure mercury, which has an ionization potential of 10.43eV.
The PID responds to both mercury and VOC’s so the VOC’s have to be removed to make the technique specific for mercury.
The chemistry of the gold/mercury amalgam makes this method specific for mercury and eliminates interferences from VOC’s.
This technique also concentrates the sample making the method sensitive to sub ppb levels.
