ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY IN
PRESENT SIMPLE
The adverbs of frequency are the words
that tell us how often an action is
performed.
For example, in the following sentence,
the word always is telling us when
Manuel is going to the park:
Manuel always goes to the park.
¿HOW DO
THEY
COMBINE?
Adverbs of frequency can be placed at the beginning or
end of the sentence and before or after the main verb of
the sentence, it all depends on the adverb and its
intention in the sentence.
• If the adverb is conjugated with the verb to be, you
must place it after it.
You are always smiling.
• With other verbs, the adverb is usually placed before
the verb.
We always go to buy fruits.
EXAMPLE • ALWAYS
You are always smiling.
• USUALLY
Usually I do my homework at night.
• FREQUENTLY
Frequently I go to the mall.
• VERY OFTEN
We go to the cinema very often.
• OFTEN
She does not run often in the park.
• SOMETIMES
Sometimes Marta eats ice cream.
• OCCASIONALLY
I walk to work occasionally.
• RARELY
You rarely talk to me.
• NEVER
I have never tried this before.
¡THANK
YOU!
