INSPIRING ADVENTURE
BY DUNCAN TREVITHICK
A series of films exploring different
travel experiences, and profiling
travelers, all inspiring adventurous
travel.
MARRAKESH, MOROCCO
FINDING & CAPTURING
BEAUTY IN THE CITY
A look into the life of an
adventurous working
photographer, exploring a new
city for the first time.
This is all about that feeling of possibility travelers
have just after landing in a new city for the first time.
The film would follow the story of an established
photographer exploring the visually rich city
of Marrakesh for the first time, reacting to the
environment and improvising scenes there.
The profile would be just as much about the city
as the photographer, with their words providing
a voiceover to cinematic images of the city, and
focusing on how they approach exploring a new place
and why that is worthwhile.
I want to keep this accessible to a broad audience
by staying away from going to deep into the artistic
process of the photographer, and keeping it very
focused on the sense of excitement and wonder of
being in a new place.
SOUTH OF ICELAND
ICE CAVE GUIDE
This concept is about pushing your
boundaries as a traveler, and taking part
in activities that are slightly out of your
comfort zone, in a good way.
Iceland is a great place to focus on because
there are so many adventurous things to do
there, with the comfort of a modern city,
Reykjavik to go back to.
The film would be primarily a profile of
an experienced ice cave guide, giving an
insight into the risks but also immense
rewards of exploring the incredible ice caves
of the south coast of Iceland.
Using this profile as an anchor, the film
would also take time to show off Reykjavik
and some of the other sights around Iceland
in a cinematic style, including the Northern
Lights.
We would use drone technology to capture
the vast beautiful landscapes, contrasted
against the darker beauty of the ice caves.

ATACAMA DESERT, CHILE
SOLSTICE FESTIVAL
This concept is about immersing yourself
in local culture, and searching for authentic
experience in an often overly productized
tourist industry.
The indigenous Mapuche people of the
Atacama Desert region celebrate new year
at the winter solstice, the 24th of June, in
a festival also known as We Tripantu. The
festival is about celebrating the beginning of
spring and the return of the sun, and is full
of life and colour, set against the stunning
vast landscape of the Atacama desert and
lake district.
The film would feature voiceovers from
locals, speaking about the festival and what
it means to share it with visitors. We would
also show off the beautiful landscapes and
immersive visuals of the festival itself. The
Atacama Desert is also one of the best
places in the world to see the night sky
from, so we would be able to show parts of
the festival and landscape with incredible
starry skies in time-lapse.

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND
DIGITAL NOMAD
This concept is about opening up the
possibilities of when and how you can travel.
Digital nomads work remotely or run businesses
whilst traveling the world. This film would
profile a Digital nomad living in Chiang Mai, a
city where people living this lifestyle gravitate
to and cross paths.
The idea isn’t necessarily to sell the idea that
everyone should become a digital nomad, but
more just to open up the whole idea of travel,
to plant the seed that travel can be more than
just what you do for your two weeks of vacation
time a year.

NEW ZEALAND
THE LONG TERM
TRAVELER
This is again about broadening the
audience’s ideas about when and how travel
can happen.
By profiling a long term traveler, the film
would not be aiming to get more people
to quit their jobs and travel long term, but
more having the intention of getting people
to think ‘if they can do that for six months,
I can be a little more adventurous with my
two weeks’.
DUNCAN W.
Available until mid June
SUBJECT
Duncan is an accomplished long term traveler, having spent
years on the road across Europe, Australia and New Zealand,
where he currently works as a glacier boat guide in the Southern
Alps of the South Island.
He is a charming subject with an infectious enthusiasm for
travel and life, and comes across well on camera.
EUROPE
THE JOURNEY IS THE
DESTINATION
This concept is about the journey itself,
the people met and stories swapped along
the way, the sights you see out of a train
window.
Inter-railing is often seen as something that
only twenty-somethings do before getting
a real job, but it’s actually something that
people of all ages do and enjoy.
This would appeal to an American audience
who may be coming to Europe for the first
time and want to see as much of it as
possible, but also to a European audience
who are interested in having a cost effective
way of taking in the sights of neighboring
countries.

ESCAPE TO QUIET
NATURAL BEAUTY
This concept is all about finding peace and
solitude away from our busy lives.
Instead of being a profile piece, this film
would have a poetic style narrative, set
against the visually engaging landscape of
the Stockholm archipelago. The voiceover
would be based around the idea that we
need to take more time out from our busy
lives to appreciate nature all around us, and
that beautiful natural landscapes are never
too far away.
The imagery would subtly show the ease of
which travelers can reach the archipelago
from central Stockholm, staying in modern
comfort there, without overly focusing on
the logistics of traveling to the islands.

SIGHTSEEING FROM A
NEW PERSPECTIVE
HAUTES ALPES, FRANCE
This concept is about finding ways to see the
world from new perspectives. The way our
opinions and thoughts about the world are
changed by seeing new parts of it from different
perspectives.
Paragliding is a good choice to feature, because
it combines different elements that travelers
often seek: adventure, peace (once airborne),
and seeing the world from a fresh perspective. It
is an accessible activity, with centers worldwide
offering tandem flights for beginners.
Paragliding is visually engaging on screen, and
the Hautes Alpes in France is a stunning location
to have as a backdrop for the experience.
The film would profile an experienced paraglider,
talking about their first experiences paragliding,
and how they would recommend it as a travel
experience. Their words would be the anchor to
immersive aerial imagery of the paragliders.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY
TASTE THE
JOURNEY
This concept is about indulging in the best
food local culture has to offer.
The Karaköy district of Istanbul, Turkey is
world renowned as a destination for food
lovers. The authentic outdoor markets and
street food vendors fill the streets by the
water’s edge with steaming dishes, and
exotic smells.
The film would profile a food blogger, in
search of new dishes and fresh inspiration.
We would follow them on a journey through
the city, exploring markets, alleyways, and
interacting with the varied characters who
sell their unique dishes from colourful stalls.
LOVE LETTER TO
LONDON
This concept is about the personal
connection that locals have to their towns,
and the parts they want to share.
The film would be a series of voiceover
narratives taken from different Londoners,
all on the subject of what they love about
their city.
The idea is to show the very best of the city,
but also the quirky side of it that isn’t on the
tourist guides, the odd little places that the
locals keep secret but would love to share
with a friend coming to visit.

Love Japan - vimeo.com/101373765
SHARING THE JOURNEY
The film would be a portrait of a travel-blogging family,
planning their next trip whilst already on the road
in an exotic place. We would focus on the specific
challenges that face them in bringing young children
with them, but also the positive effects that travel can
have on the development of kids.
Although the other ideas do aim to appeal to
a broad audience, and of course be family
friendly, this concept is all about thinking
more about the ways your can travel as a
family. It’s about bringing more adventure into
family vacations without necessarily making
them more risky.
BERLIN, GERMANY
SLEEP IS FOR HOME
This concept is all about the feeling that
travelers have, of being more alive than they
are at home. Of not wanting miss a moment in a
new city.
The film would follow a young traveler exploring
a buzzing night time Berlin. It would be a
shot in a documentary style, but instead of
featuring a real individual, the piece would be
more poetic and be anchored by an authored
voiceover and the images of a fictional
character exploring the city, wandering in and
out of clubs.
The narrative would focus on the idea of
escaping to a new place, of the feeling of
freedom and intensity found in night time cities
around the world.
Berlin is a good location to feature, as it is a
world famous destination for young people in
search of long nights and varied nightlife. It
also has an international feel, meaning that
the visuals in the film will not necessarily limit
the piece to being specifically about Berlin,
but more about the idea of finding a night time
escape anywhere on your travels.
ADVENTURE DOESN’T
HAVE AN AGE LIMIT
In a similar way to the family concept, this
idea is about broadening the audience, and
making more kinds of travel seem more
relevant to more people.
Older often have the most time to travel, but
the perception is often that they are limited
to cruises and heavily organised activities.
There is nothing wrong with those kinds of
travel experiences, but this concept is about
opening up possibilities for travel in your
older years.
The film would profile an older couple living
an active retirement entirely without a fixed
address.
ALISON AND DON
Depending on availability
SUBJECT
Alison and Don are a couple in their 60s / 70s
living life on the road, and writing about their
experiences on alisonanddon.com.
They are just as enthusiastic about travel
as any youthful backpacker, and have an
insightful perspective on the advantages travel
can have in one’s life.
As they are on the move constantly, the film
would take place wherever they happen to
be. Their past trips have taken them to Spain,
India, Bali, Australia, Southeast Asia, Sweden,
Mexico, South America, and more.
“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes
you richer.”
