1. Advantages of Interval Training
Burn more calories aka burn during and after workout: the combination of
cardio and strength training allow your body to burn more calories as you’re training
both anaerobically and aerobically. Working out at higher intensities allows increased
calories burned
Won’t get bored: It’s impossible to get bored when the workout is continuously
changing! It takes three weeks for your body to plateau but because your workout varies
so frequently workout plateau is no longer a worry. Also due to the amount of time
required to finish an interval training workout you won’t have wonder if your attention
span is long enough
Decrease workout time: Most people split workouts into strength and cardio... Or
they do cardio before/after strength workout? Get ready to combine cardio and strength
in one workout; by combining both, your workout is never more than forty-five minutes.
Oh, did I mention that’s forty-five minutes including your warm-up and cool down?!? I
thought you’d like that!!
Burn fat not muscle: Because HIIT training is heart rate based, it is much easier to
control whether or not muscle is burned in the place of fat. Secondly, the amount of
cardio done is minimal which also ensures more fat burn...why you ask? Muscle burns
fat!
No equipment needed: HIIT Training can be done anywhere with little to no
equipment. If you know 6 body weight exercises you have an interval training workout.
The use of equipment or lack of there of doesn’t add to the intensity of the workout. I
taught a HIIT class this summer in the park. On certain days we used the park benches;
swings; see-saw; and slide. Feel free to be creative in that manner or think of your own
exercises!
