Microsoft office 365
Office 365 is a cloud-based subscription service that allows users to access Microsoft Office applications online as well as additional services like Exchange Online for email, SharePoint Online for document storage and sharing, Lync Online for communications, and online meetings. The key benefits of Office 365 include having the latest version of Office, accessing files from any device, easy sharing and collaboration, and not needing to manage your own server infrastructure. It provides these services through a web-based control panel and works by assigning each client organization an accepted domain to access the hosted Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, and other services through Microsoft's data centers.

Introducing Office Web Apps as a Tool for Developing Content Rich Applications
Office Web Apps was introduced with SharePoint 2010 as a service used to provide browser-based access to Office documents. Office Web Apps (OWA) 2013 modifies the service architecture significantly, enabling the exposure of document interactions through a browser to be customized and expanded within SharePoint as well as outside of SharePoint.
With this architecture change, we need to review the capabilities from a new perspective and question how we can best leverage this service. To start, we need to understand the new architecture changes. From there, how do we manage the health of OWA and apply updates? How do we leverage OWA to build additional capabilities into our applications? How do we expand OWA capabilities? What are the differences in OWA on-prem and OWA Office 365?
In this session, we'll be answering these questions and more. We'll look at the new 2013 architecture and understand how to deploy the service on-prem and manage it properly. We will then look at how to extend the service and take advantage of the new capabilities in both our SharePoint and non-SharePoint solutions. You'll leave the session with a deeper understanding of OWA capabilities, and ready to incorporate OWA into your solution architectures!
Real World – Rapid prototyping with Logic Apps
This integration Monday session will be a show and tell style session where Mike will present a short topic covering rapid prototyping using Logic Apps. We all know that integration projects tend to be challenging, a lot of time is spent on analysis and trying to understand how things will work. In the real world we still find that no matter how much analysis we do we never really know the full story until we try to wedge the square peg into the round hole. In this session Mike will talk about how he used Logic apps to help him elaborate the requirements for a project using a prototype built with Logic Apps and how some of the learnings from this prototype will save plenty of time later in the project.

The functions pass arguments to private functions that execute the necessary code to complete requests. But, with the ongoing dramatic shift of functionality into the browser, how do you achieve this when building Front-End Web Apps?
In this talk we’ll cover the signs to watch out for as your HTML5 SPA grows and provide examples of some of the tooling types that can contribute-to - as well as ease - the growing pains. Finally, we’ll demonstrate how tooling can be used to support a set of conventions, practices and principles that enable a productive developer workflow where the first line of code is feature code, features can be developed in isolation, code conflicts are avoided by grouping assets by feature and features are composed into apps.

- 10. Initial Build • Rails for backend and frontend • Active Admin
- 11. Then RailsConf 2012 Happened
- 13. The Ecosystem • Smaller systems that talk to each other • API Endpoints that served both Web and Mobile • and….. • Active Admin in the same spot as before
- 14. We modified our architecture, but didn’t update how we dealt with internal tools.
- 15. • Admin wasn’t updated • Content creators were blocked • Engineers had to begin updating content
- 16. That brings us to 2014
- 17. Principles • API driven • Testable • Trackable • Administrable
- 18. Our new goals • Internal users deserve good tools • Treat our data as content and not rows in a spreadsheet • Admin tools need to be easy to add to and extend by other developers
- 19. Internal Products and Tools can be as important as the ones you build for your customers
- 20. The Plan • Small, reusable libraries for common functionality • Done with Ember Components when possible • Consolidated code
- 21. The Other Side • Use an establish CMS • Fix Active Admin installation • Use our admin tools to experiment with new technology
- 22. What next? • Building our admin tools from scratch • Start moving features over one at a time • Starting with moving the blog into our ecosystem
