Let’s link up
The butterfly wants to reach the flower. Help the butterfly reach it by
colouring the circles with words that tell us more about the flower.

The word ‘flower’ is a noun. The words you have coloured tell us more
about the flower.
Look at these groups of words.
A long rope a cute baby a round table a tall tree
The words rope, baby, table and tree are nouns.
The words long, cute, round, and tall describe these nouns.
These words are describing words or adjectives.
Words that describe nouns are called describing words or adjectives.
Adjectives tell us about the colour, size, shape, and numbers of
nouns.

The adjective ‘green’ describes the noun ‘grass’. It tells us what the
colour of the grass is.
The adjective ‘small’ describes the noun ‘bird’. It tells us what the
size of the bird is.
The adjective ‘round’ describes the noun ‘sun’. It tells us what the
shape of the sun is.
The adjective ‘three’ describes the noun ‘stars’. It tells us the number
of stars.

Use of this, these, that and those
We use this, these, that, and those to point at nouns. Now read the

near us.
