This document acknowledges America's history of systemic racism and oppression of black people through institutions of slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, segregation, voter suppression, police brutality, and other policies and actions that promoted white supremacy and denied equal rights and opportunities for black communities. It references many people and events that exemplify the long struggle against racism in America from slavery through the civil rights era to current issues still impacting society today.
