Accuracy and precision of a process can be best explained using the analogy of rifle shots hitting a target. There are four combinations of accuracy and precision: inaccurate and imprecise, accurate but imprecise, precise but inaccurate, and accurate and precise. The objective of Six Sigma in manufacturing is to continuously achieve higher levels of both accuracy and precision in processes through greater consistency.
