This thesis project aims to obtain a master's degree in international relations by examining the relationship between intelligence officials and policymakers in Portugal. The study consists of five chapters: the first establishes the conceptual and methodological framework, the second provides a historical overview of Portuguese intelligence services from the country's foundation to 1976, and the third illustrates reference models from the US and UK and compares the three systems. The fourth chapter describes Portugal's current intelligence architecture and analyzes relationships based on official statements, while the fifth draws conclusions and considers the future of Portuguese intelligence.
