And the award goes to….
Mr. Abhilash Nair
M
r. Abhilash Nair, Chairman
and managing director of
Zeus Biotech Pvt. Ltd was
born on 30th Aug, 1979 to Mr. Jay
Prakash Nair and Mrs. Indira Nair. He is a
business Management graduate.
His company Zeus Biotech, was
started by Mr. Jayparakash Nair in 1991
to manufacture and sell Animal feed supplements. He brought in
innovative concepts to the animal feed industry in India. They
were the first to launch feed specific enzymes in the Indian
poultry industry. Also, they were the first Indian company to
produce and export Feed specific Enzymes as against the
standard practice of competitors who used to import and sell
Industrial Enzymes in India.
Mr. Abhilash Nair started working with his father in the year
2000 as soon as completed his graduation. However, he was
already involved in the business when he was doing his
graduation. He used to involve himself in the production
activities during holidays and long vacations.
Initially, he was put in the production department for a few
years before he was exposed to various other departments like
purchases, accounts and marketing. This gave him a good
experience in most of the aspects in the functioning of the
organisation. This is a common practice followed in most family
run businesses.
He took over father's responsibilities when his health
deteriorated drastically due to a stroke followed by renal failure
five years ago. At this point of time, his colleagues gave him
immense support which helped in the gradual change in
company leadership. However, he says he will never be able to fill
the vacuum what his father left. But he is confident that they will
surely realise his father's dream of making Zeus one of the top
players in the global animal health-care industry.
He is happily married to Mrs. Chaitra Nair and the couple has
2 lovely children –daughter Ananya Nair and son Arav Nair

2. MEETING WITH MS NIRMALA SITARAMAN:
The union minister visited Bengaluru on 20th
Oct on her official visit to address the grievances of
Coffee trade. We got an out of turn opportunity to
meet her at Hotel Lalit Ashok.
She invited us for lunch after her engagements
and gave us the opportunity to talk to her in leisure
post lunch in the lobby of her room. I took the
opportunity to take up two significant issues
related to my field. I highlighted the difficulties of
Mfg sector in the country and few important
obstacles to be cleared in order to achieve our PM's
dream project 'Make in India'. Further as a corollary
i discussed with her on the banking sector support
required to meet the objectives. On behalf of Mfg
sector i appealed to her to consider extending CGTS
scheme (Credit Guarantee to Bankers from the
Govt) to entire MSME sector with suitable checks
and balances. Further i presented a paper giving
details on this aspect.
Overall it was a wonderful 45 minutes spent with
a Minister who is articulate, responsive and down to
earth, eager to serve the Nation. I thank my sister
Shakuntala Iyer for organizing this meeting and the
photo opp.
