Karl Kandt, a graduate of Manhattan High School, co-chaired its alumni association's membership drive and has over 20 years experience in higher education. The Manhattan High School Alumni Association has members from 69 graduating classes across 33 states who support activities like refurbishing school items, building an alumni center and museum, and a wall of fame for notable students. Manhattan High School has ranked in the top 10% of American high schools for 5 years according to the Washington Post and has nearly 2,000 pupils annually since opening in 1873.

1. Karl Kandt possesses more than two decades of experience within higher education. A graduate of
Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kansas, Karl Eric Kandt holds membership in the Manhattan
High School Alumni Association and co-chaired its membership drive.
Former students from 33 different states representing 69 graduating classes have shown their
dedication to the Manhattan High School Alumni Association through membership and support. The
organization’s activities have included refurbishing school paraphernalia, such as its Indian Mosaic;
building an Alumni Center and Museum; and introducing a Wall of Fame celebrating notable students.
With three different tiers of membership, the Manhattan High School Alumni Association welcomes all
people who have had a connection to the school.
According to the Washington Post High School Challenge list, Manhattan High School has ranked in
the top 10% of America’s high schools for five consecutive years. Opened in 1873, the school has a
class of nearly 2,000 pupils every year.
