club,wheretheexercise,thefoodandthe
spiritarethemainingredientsforthe
smoothacvityofhumanbeingsand
operaonofafriendlyspace.
EEnteringinthisCenter,everyvisitorcan
enjoythevarietyofacvies,thequality
oftheinfrastructure,thewarmnessofthe
spaceand sasfyalmosteverysingle
dream.
AA eravirtualwalkintheconcerning
neighborhoodandafullunderstandingof
thedemand,Icametomyfinalconcept.
Thekey-wordsarethefollowing:laby-

capturetheMinotaurinthecentreofthe
structure.
TheTheaimoftheprojectistochallengethe
aenonofpeople,inordertocomeand
visittheWellnessCenterandthen
““capture”them intheCenter.Themain
pointisto“capture”thevisitorsofthe
WellnessCenterinitspicturesqueinteri-
or,withoutescapingfrom thepleasure.
TheideaofLabyrinthcanbetranslatedas
anopportunityforthevisitors,tocreate
theirownmythandsasfytheirownde-
sisires.

3. MASTERPLAN&CONCEPT
Inhistory,thereexisttwotypesof
labyrinths,thecircularandtherectangu-
lar.Arectangularlabyrinthisdeveloped
aroundthetwomainbuildingsandthe
visitorshavetheopportunityandthe
choiceofnumerousdireconsandwalks.
Therearerepe vesequencessurround-
ingtheFoodandWellnessCenter.Those
sequencesarefilledwithtrees,bushes,
benches,colorsandfeelings.
Thesurroundingbuildings,mostofthem
arefactories,haveasimplerectangular
shape.
TheTheaerialphotoofthecityiscomposed
from rectanglesofdifferentsizes.The
blockisfilledwithtwosmallerbuildings
ofrectangularshape.Therectangleisone
ofthemainelementsoftheproject.
TheThefirstpartoftheCentercontainsthe
administraon, recepon, meditaon
rooms,shop,café,gymandservices.The
secondpart,whichisthemostimportant,
containsthespa,sauna,hamam,spa
suites,solarium,Turkishbaths,andtwo
swimmingpools.Alltheacviesofthe
sesecondpartsymbolizedatreasure.The
pleasureofthevisitorsisthetreasureof
thisWellnessCenter.

smoothintegraonintothesurrounding
environment.
ConcerningConcerningthevercalshapeofthe
building,aninclinedroofwithwooden
structurecoverstheimportantpartof
the Center (spa,hamam,swimming
pools,etc).Theshapeofthemarket
standsaretheinspiraon,applyinga
modernandevoluonarytouch.
RRegardingthewindows,thefirstbuilding
hasasimplicityandconnuitywiththe
shapeoftheCenterandtheplanningof
thegarden.Thewestfacadehasasimple
arrangementoftwosizesofwindows
whichresemblesthepreviousbuilding.
Howeverthesouthandnorthfacadeare
complcompletelydifferent.Bolognaisamedie-
valcitywithmanyelementsofmilitary
architecture.Smallwindows,like
loopholes,aresparselylocatedvercally
orhorizontallyonthesurfaceofthewall.
Concerning the second partofthe
Center,thegroundfloorwiththespa,
hamam,sauna,solarium and Turkish
bathshasadifferentatmosphere,dark
butidyllic.Τheonlyroom withnatural
lightandalargewindowistheTurkish
Baths.However,onthefirstfloorwith
thetheswimmingpools,threebigopenings
inthewoodenroofilluminatethewhole
space.Twoofthemcanbeopenedwitha
mechanicalsystem,whichallowsfresh
airtoentertheroom.

TheTheFoodandWellnesscenterisdivided
inthetradionalandthemodernpart.
Thefirstpartwiththesecondaryacvi-
esismadebybricksandisfullyintegrat-
edinthecity.Thesecondpartofthe
project,whichcontainsthemainacvi-
es,isconstructedbybareconcreteand
wwood.Thegreycolorofthebarecon-
cretecanbeeasilyintegratedtothealu-
minumofthesurroundingfactories.
Concerningtheecologicalcharacterof
thebuilding,bareconcreteandwoodare
bothenvironmentallyfriendlymaterials.
Greenerbuildingsandworkplacesisthe
aim ofalltheassociaons,companies
andcies.
TheThebareconcreteisasoluonforhaving
agoodresultusinganecologicalmateri-
al.The bare concrete increasesthe
energyefficiencyofthebuildingandit
declinealltheharshchemicalsusedin
otherbuildingmaterials.Thewoodisa
durablematerial,withlightweightand
llowheatconducvity.Itisanaturalma-
terialwithauniquewarmthanditiseasy
todecorate.

TheFoodandWellnessCenterisanew
spacethatwillbecome“apivotalinterna-
onalaracon”,which aractslocal
andforeignvisitorstodiscoverthegood
spirit,thebodyexerciseandthehealthy
nutrion,throughhistory,tradionand
modernity.
Theconceptoftheprojectistodiscover
thepleasure-treasureinthemiddleof
theblock,withoutfindingthewayoutof
thisspace.LabyrinthandMinotaurare
theinspiraonsforthedevelopmentof
theproject.Duringthewholeprocess,
thereisapersistentconneconbetween
thethetradion–useofmaterials-,the
myth–theconcept-,theintegraon–
environmentandshapes-andthedura-
bility–useofspaceandmaterials.
Thesurroundingindustrialenvironment
helpedtogiveideasinsomeconceptual
issues.Thereisarepe onofshapesin
differentcombinaonsandsizes.
TheThelineandtherectangle,horizontally
orvercally,arepresentintheinterior
and exteriorofthe building,in the
gardenandevenonthedifferentsecond-
arystructures.
ThisThisFoodandWellnessCenterwelcomes
thevisitorsintoagenerous,durable,
peacefulandaracveplacewitha
contemporaryandecofriendlydesign,by
givingtheopportunitytorelaxthrougha
varietyofacviesand“scenes”ina
warmnessatmosphere.
