This document describes a traditional go-kart game called "Tornet" that is played in Turkey and other European countries as part of an Erasmus+ project. It provides instructions on how to build a basic go-kart out of wood that is powered solely by gravity going down a sloped road. It also establishes some safety rules for racing the homemade go-karts, which can only be done during moderate spring months due to weather. Photos show examples of multigenerational families enjoying the go-kart racing tradition.

Traditional Go-Kart «TORNET»: NON-PATENTED INVENTION OF YOUNG MASTERS
First go-karts used to be made of wooden
soap boxes by adding wheels of an old baby carrier on
four sides. Traditional go-karts were motorless and
they moved down the slope or by pushing behind.
They had several mechanisms for steering through
ropes on the frontal axles or just using your feet to
steer it to the right or left. A simple go-kart is suitable
for slow speeds, still equipping with some braking
mechanisms may always be safer 

Materials needed
- A plank in thickness of 50 x 225 mm and length of 120–
150 cm
- 2 planks in thickness of 45 x 120 and length of 540 mm
- 11 planks in thickness of 10 x 150 and length of 50 cm
- An additional plank for arm support
- 3 wheels

RULES FOR GO-KARTING
Go-Kart Racing is organized in a mildly sloppy road and the racers go down the sloppy road using their
feet for braking. Safety measures should be taken before the race including personal safety equipment of the
racers. Due to harsh climate conditions in the country, Go-Kart Racing cannot be organized during extreme
summer or winter conditions as it will very hot or cold respectively. Therefore, such races can only be organized
during moderate months of the Spring making G-Kart toy somehow seasonal.
