During a study of house sparrows, various biometric data was collected but more data still needs to be observed over multiple breeding seasons. Mortality of chicks before fledging decreased from 47% in 2010 to 46% in 2011. The population density of house sparrows is declining, with natural nests decreasing by 3 out of 27 in one area, but the species responded well to artificial nest boxes that increased breeding attempts. The research aims to continue monitoring house sparrow populations across 10 areas of West Bengal.
