Ghana uses English as its national language despite its neighbors speaking French. Ghana also plays an important leadership role in its region and internationally on issues such as the crisis in Mali.

Over the course of my life, I have had the opportunity to make
several trips to Africa, including to the country of Ghana. Back
here in the U.S., Ghana has not always had the highest profile, so
I want to take some time today to share a little information
about it.
The country, located in sub-Saharan West Africa, had 24 million

1957 and has a strong recent record of successful democratic

summit on the situation in Mali with other sub-Saharan African
