2. John Mark discovered art as a young child born and raised in Wichita Kansas. , When he was a little boy John would often doodle. And his friends would often complement his drawings and some actually bought artwork. This was encouraging but still he didn't take his work seriously, it was only a pastime that would be forgotten as life happened; Marriage and children, career, college, divorce and everyday living. With so much to focus on, art wasn't on his list of activities. Art would not be a part of his life for the next nineteen years. While working as an alcohol and drug counselor in Sacramento California John began to sketch once again to past the time between appointments with clients. Seeing his talent, a good friend commented on his drawings that were done in pencil and surprised him with an assortment of art supplies which included a variety of mediums, brushes, art pads and canvas. Everything to get him started and start he did. After nineteen years he was again in touch with his creative passion, painting in watercolor. 3. Watercolor requires a high level of discipline and much patience. Forethought and a steady hand are an absolute must because one wrong stroke can destroy an entire work; it's not for the hurried artist. John handles this medium with the ease of a child playing in water. His work is so detailed and his ability to control this difficult medium is awesome. What's even more remarkable about this artist is that he's never taken an art class, he is a natural. The complexity of his work is raw talent personified! He has the gift of seeing the pigments that gives a person or animal or objects its color. Looking at his work, one is mesmerized at how pinks, browns, blues, greens and other colors are used in such a way that our brain sees it as a solid color instead of a prism of colors. He has the ability to make us appreciate the image, breathing personality into each work of art. After creating a body of work Mr. Barnett began to display his a works in art shows and developed a web site under the name John Mark’s Studio where others could view as well as purchase prints. Having achieved success in his career as a counselor John decided to pursue his art as a second career as a full time artist developed Heritage Hill Galley and Studio which features John’s work as well as other artist such as his daughter Courtney. Heritage Hill Gallery and Studio features original and custom works of art. On the web site clients may purchase a variety of items such as limited edition signed and numbered prints, quality poster prints, art print T-shirts, plaques as well as originals. Heritage Hill also offers convenient custom art services where the client can email one or more photographs to the site and have it painted or drawn in the medium of their choice one of the more popular options that this site offers is the ability to take several individual photographs and combine them into one original work of art.
