This hanging scroll depicts coconuts painted in 1943 in Macao by Ko Koon-fat. While unsigned, it shows his mature style. Using ink and color on paper in a realistic style, he captures the hard texture of coconut shells with vigorous brushwork. The tree trunk, branches and leaves are painted with strong, spontaneous brushstrokes reflecting Ko's bold and vigorous personal style in his later years.
