2. Introduction
In this reflection you are going to read about our
group’s ritual, our team work, problems and how
did we solved, drama skills and examples of them.
Our ritual name is ‘Iluvia’.
3. Group Ritual
Our group ritual was about asking for the rain to
the God ‘Iluvia’. Iluvia’s soul came down to one of
our tribesmen and we start our ritual by sharing
the holy water to rest of our tribe members.
4. Team Work
• How effectively did your group work together?
• Our group worked equally and effectively by sharing our
opinion to other members and discussed about it. We
respected all ideas and mostly applied for final ritual.
• what did each of the members contribute to the task?
• Josan contributed to the task by being the leader of the
tribe.
• Alvin contributed to the task by being the iluvia God.
• And the other members(Myself, Joyce and Adelle)
contributed to the taks by sharing the ideas and opinions
for the movements, choral speakings and the symbolic
objects for the ritual.
5. Problems
• What did you and your group find difficult?
• We didn’t had really big difficulties, but we had problem when we had to decide the theme
for the ritual. After we chose the theme, Rain Dance(Iluvia). We had to have dialogues for
Josan and Alvin, because they are the god and leader. Their dialogues were quite long, so
we had solve this problem by reducing the amount of speaking. We also had to decide
which movement we are going to do when Josan and Alvin are having conversation.
• What problems did you have?
• I had problems when we were doing the rehearsal. I was little bit confused
about the movements when we were doing rehearsal. However, by practicing
the movements I did well on the final performance.
6. How did your group use the drama
skills that were introduced to you
• Movement: We used some movements, size, speed, direction and sequence.
We had different size of movement when we were walking in circle.
We also kneeled down to let the audience to focus on Josan and Alvin.
There were pattern and speed during our clapping on the floor, our hands clapped in a
3/4 beat. However, we went faster into an 8/8 beat at the end of Josan’s speech, to
show that something will be happen.
Our direction of movements in this ritual were indirect, because we had to walk in
circle.
Also we had pattern while we were doing the clapping part at the end. We hit our leg
with hands and chest, after that we clapped two times by walking in circle and repeat.
• Choral Speaking: There were little bit of accent when Josan and Alvin talked. Also there were
different volume of talking as well. We also had unison when we were saying ‘Iluvia’. We said
‘Iluvia’ at the same time while we were raising up our arms.
7. • What feedback did you use to improve your performance?
• Our ritual didn’t look really good at first time, so we tried to make more
interesting and cooler by adding more movements, also by saying ‘Iluvia’ and
raising our hand to show that we are worshiping the Iluvia.
• What would you change if you were to do this task again?
• I would not change anything if we were ask to do this task again, because our
group members didn’t had lots of problems during the rehearsal and the ritual.
We all contributed well.
• Explain the difference between a ritual and a play.
• Ritual is when the group of people do a ceremony or performance by using
symbolic object and movement.
• Play is when the people represent their character in theatre, or movie. Also play
is to show to audience.
