that paranormal beliefs are becoming more widespread in modern societies consisting of people
who build their existence over their autonomy .
Paranormal beliefs are defined as forces, ideas and phenomena that are beyond the capacity
of humans, beyond the explanatory power of science, arising from unknown, hidden and inexplicable
reasons, and for which a cause–effect connection cannot be established. It has been stated that
paranormal beliefs have an advantage in this particular community, it has been thought that this
advantage may be felt more intensely when individuals seek help from a supernatural being in
overcoming difficult situations. Studies in general populations have indicated that paranormal
beliefs are effective in the emergence of psychopathological conditions such as depression,
anxiety, psychosis and schizotypy .
Although these beliefs, which are not supported scientifically, do not seem harmful
to the person, they pose a health threat by affecting some health practices of people negatively.

Despite the many claims of paranormal activities, there is little scientific

 DUMAS BEACH
The Dumas Beach in Gujrat has been reported as being one of the most haunted places in India. One such
incident was reported by a group of friends, native of Surat, who spent a day at the beach.Though they
didn’t witness any paranormal activity, their photographs told a different tale – the photos had spirit orbs
in it. It can be said that there is some sort of negative energy or eerie vibe at night.
However, many claim at night, the beach takes on an eerie vibe. Most of the natives say that the spirits
walk down on the beach at night.To this day, there have been numerous reports of paranormal activity on
the beach, where visitors claim to hear strange noises and voices, and loud laughter.White apparitions
and moving orbs have been sighted and other inexplicable activities have been witnessed, too. Also, many
tourists are known to go missing while strolling on the beach at midnight, claim the locals.
Another incident reported is that dogs in the area behave strangely around the beach after dark, depicting
their discomfort with vocal warnings, like howling and barking.Whether fact or fiction, dogs here sense
the invisible presences and start barking, which therefore alerts people on the beach to stop walking

14. BHANGARH
FORT
In the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Bhangarh Fort is a 17th-century fort, infamous all over India for being the 'Most
haunted place in India'. Because of the numerous ghostly experiences and happenings in the fort premises, villages have
sprung up far away from the fort, due to the fear of what lies within. Even the Archaeological Survey of India or the ASI has
forbidden the locals and tourists from entering the fort at night. This completely ruined, haunted fort of Bhangarh does have a
very eerie, negative aura to it. Several legends have attested to the paranormal happenings inside the fort.
No one is allowed to enter the fort after sunset or before sunrise. The entire landscape is subsumed by a pall of gloom and
a chilling hollowness once the last ray of sunlight bids adieu until its arrival the next morning. There are many local tales
about the paranormal activities in the fort. It depends on a person whether he would believe it or not. It is said that the spirits
roam in Bhangarh Fort at night and various strange noises are heard. Also, as it is said, anyone who enters the fort at night
would not be able to return in the morning.
One always feels as if their movements are being watched, and the air is charged with a dizzying heaviness. A board put up by
the Archaeological Survey of India cautions the visitors not to venture within the premises of the fort during the dark hours.

15. JATINGA
VALLEY
Jatinga, a small tribal village and Assam’s only hill station, but this village experiences
something unique and eerie of course.The village is in fact known worldwide as the
place where the bird suicides happen on moonless nights.The phenomenon happens at
the end of monsoon, when the night is dark with some bit of fog.Taking place between
6 pm to 9 pm, the bird suicides are an unknown and unexplained event.The birds
simply fall from the sky unexpectedly, shaking the bones of even the bravest of men.
Numerous scientists and naturalists have attempted to solve the puzzle, but none have
been successful in providing with the right answer. People of the village believes that
there is something paranormal behind it .

Some scientists view this as a social problem, directing much blame (but little research)
at a variety of sources including lack of critical thinking skills, fads, need for
transcendent experiences, failure of the educational system, and cultural cycles . Social

consequence of social influence processes in interpersonal settings. It creates a sense of
fear in many societies.
