Rob says, "I love Social Media and how I connect to customers there - but I call my team Social Support, because that is more accurate. We support customers using Social Media - we don't pitch. Glad to address the Global Product Management Talk, a great application of social tools in support of the professional product management community!"
The document discusses social media marketing and provides statistics about major social media platforms. It notes that 50% of the world's population is under 30 and 96% of them use social media. Successful social media companies listen first and sell second. The ROI of social media is whether a business will still exist in 5 years. It then provides statistics about the number of users and user demographics of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
Joe says, "Figuring out ways to ship more product is a passion of mine. The problem spans technology, product, design, and people, which is what makes it so interesting. I'm excited to talk more about the colliding worlds of iterative development and product management with the community on Global Product Management Talk."
Joe Stump, CEO And Cofounder Of Sprint.ly, Discusses The Iterative Product Development Process, Automating Product Releases And Metrics
The software iterative development process enables every product iteration to result in at least one software release. Because of its collaborative, problem-solving character, iterative software development is similar to a multidisciplinary project or parallel development, which places a high demand on communication between the project team and project stakeholders, and among team members themselves. Also referred to as non-blocking development, this process aligns the entire business, from sales to software development, to ship more product more quickly.
Joe Stump, CEO And Cofounder Of Sprint.ly, will discuss the Iterative Product Development Process, Automating Product Releases And Metrics on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the simultaneous times of 10:00 AM Pacific Time, 11:00 AM MST Denver, 12 Noon CST Chicago, and 1:00 PM EST Boston. The document outlines an agenda for developing an effective product business case. It discusses the importance of justifying new product investments through a business case that articulates market research findings, quantifies risks, and provides a financial model. An ideal business case addresses upside and downside potential, is well-researched and conservative, and answers questions about needs, customers, alternatives, success measurement, and resources. It includes elements such as objectives, market analysis, customer profiles, development plans, and financial projections. An effective business case is used to gain commitment, resources, and guidance throughout the product development process.
A tip of the iceberg presentation for an interactive session to stimulate conversation about how product excellence is defined, how to create a culture for product excellence, how to work cross-functionally and collaborate to achieve product excellence, where to go to get more.
As product management certification becomes ever-more relevant and critical for success in the field, it is also now gaining increased awareness and importance throughout the world. This webinar will discuss becoming a Certified Product Manager (CPM) in Europe, including the details of the certifications, benefits of becoming certified, course and exam options, the worldwide standard ProdBOK(R) Seven Phase Product Lifecycle and any other questions you may have about how to use certification to move your career forward. Also discussed will be some of the key differences between product management in Europe versus the rest of the world, and how this applies to certification.
Moderated by Cindy F. Solomon, Speaker Brian Lawley
This document summarizes Cindy Solomon's presentation on how to create a culture for product excellence. She defines product excellence differently depending on where a product is in its lifecycle. Early on, excellence means the product works as intended, while later it means the user experience and integration with other products. To drive alignment across functions, she recommends understanding other perspectives, gaining respect, translating roadmaps, and delivering results. The goal is to have all functions see success through a product lens.

"This is the second time I'm speaking on the Global Product Management Talk. Its a great opportunity to connect in real time with the product management community on Twitter and I'm looking forward to the added component of the live broadcast to talk about one of the most vital aspects of building successful products," says Jeff.
The document summarizes a discussion on product roadmapping led by Bill Galfano, President of MileMarker, during the Global Product Management Talk on Twitter and audio on November 14, 2011. The discussion involved questions about how participants manage their product roadmaps, how they communicate roadmap information to stakeholders, and how they prioritize new features. Participants shared various approaches to roadmapping, including using themes in roadmaps and balancing roadmap details with iteration planning.
Leon says, "I’m happy to be speaking at The Global Product Management Talk about requirements management since it is a challenge product managers confront in every organization, where ever they are located. Knowing what to invest in, how to invest in it and implementing the process with superior results, is the result of a great product management process."
The document summarizes a Global Product Management Talk on Twitter featuring Travis Jensen, Product Manager and Founder of ClickLock, discussing "Fallacious Product Management". The talk covered how to take control of product development from overly technology-focused founders, differences between product management at small vs large companies, and how to accomplish product management on a limited budget through support and mentoring. Participants introduced themselves and engaged in a question and answer session on challenges of product management.
Kelly says, "So often the good folks in Product Management work in isolation, plying their trade behind the firewall. Because Product Managers are multi-talented folks, we tend to learn from communities whose focus is UI/UX, Entrepreneurship, Programming or Engineering. Feeling at home in so many places, we forget to talk with each other. I love that the Global Product Management Talk exists so that we can form a community of our own."
Transcript of Tweets. There tends to be a lot of debate on the roles & responsibilities of the Project Manager vs. the Product Manager. In this twitter talk, we would like to gain a better understanding of how these roles can more effectively work together to bring to market high quality products.
John Mansour, founder of Proficientz, spoke at the Global Product Management Talk on January 30th, 2012 about the need for a new class of product manager focused on strategy. He discussed how corporate strategy often does not align with product strategy and many organizations lack dedicated roles for product strategy. Mansour advocated for "portfolio managers" to help connect product initiatives to financial goals and ensure strategic alignment across multiple products and business units.
Ron Brown, CEO and author, spoke at the Global Product Management Talk on Twitter on February 6, 2012 about the secrets leading companies know regarding product innovation and success. The talk focused on how agile development teams fit into leading companies' strategies and discussed determining customer needs and the importance of the marketing side of agile development. Participants had the chance to win Brown's book by being among the most active tweeters during the discussion.
Transcript of Tweets from discussion. In today's economy most organization have strict budget constraints which limits the amount of resources that can be dedicated to new products and product enhancements. Add to this, the fact that most industries are increasingly competitive and companies that do not keep up and adapt to fast changes find themselves rapidly fading out of existence.
"I'm thrilled to join the Global Product Management Community for this ProdMgmtTalk. There's a lot of offline discussion about how to structure product management teams, "where do I go from here?" and other organizational challenges. I'm looking forward to a free-wheeling session with passionately opinionated members of the product management community!" says Rich.
This document summarizes a webinar on the secrets of successful content marketing. It began with introductions of the speakers and provided tips for webinar attendees. The first speaker then discussed key aspects of effective content, including how-to tips, news, ideas, expert advice, and tying content to current events. Examples were given of both good and bad content. Statistics on commonly used B2B content marketing tactics were also presented. The benefits of content marketing to marketers were outlined. The second speaker discussed starting with customer knowledge, aligning content with the buying cycle, and content planning. The webinar concluded with a question and answer session.
Chris says, "When asked to address the Global Product Management Talk community, I thought, 'Great idea!' Every stage of the product lifecycle needs content. If content in one stage confuses management (or worse, customers), you've got extra problems. Luckily for all of us, the alternative is easy: Make sure your content is jargon-free & easy to understand. I'm happy to share my thoughts on how to do this!”
Tom Evans, Principal at Lûcrum Marketing, spoke at the weekly Global Product Management Talk on Twitter on February 27, 2012. The discussion focused on assessing product management and product marketing practices within companies. Evans noted that most companies do not proactively evaluate these practices and only look at them when problems arise. He suggested establishing regular audits to review structures, processes and outputs to ensure product excellence. Other participants agreed that companies should review these teams and processes proactively rather than just when things go wrong.
This document is a transcript from a Twitter chat on product management hosted by ProdMgmtTalk on May 23/24, 2011. The chat featured Paul Young discussing how to be a rockstar product manager. Participants introduced themselves and answered questions on what skills allow some PMs to succeed where others fail, and keys to accelerating a career in product management.
The document introduces the team at Groopt, a software company, describing each member's role and background. It also provides information about Groopt's values and philosophy in using data to help groups achieve their goals. The document shares details about Groopt's history and growth since being founded in 2009.
Ginny Ghezzo discusses growth hacking and open source communities. She defines growth hacking as focusing on product-market fit, tactics to achieve goals, and measuring and optimizing results. She explains that open source software is freely available with permissions to modify and distribute the code. Growth hacking tactics for open source include acquiring new contributors through meetups and internships, leveraging APIs for synergies, and focusing on retention over new users. Keys to successful communities include providing value, being helpful, fostering new users, and staying relevant.

This document discusses the potential use of microblogging in organizations. It first provides background on Socialsquare, a company that helps organizations enable participation online. It then discusses how people enjoy consuming, creating, sharing and connecting online. Microblogging is growing in popularity due to its ease of use, efficiency, real-time nature and ability to foster social interactions and dialogue. The document argues that as society shifts from industrialization to a knowledge economy, organizations must also transition from static hierarchies to dynamic networked structures in order to navigate complexity and leverage relationships. Examples are given of how companies like Ford and Kodak are using microblogging successfully to engage customers and gain valuable feedback.

Rob says, "I love Social Media and how I connect to customers there - but
I call my team Social Support, because that is more accurate. We support
customers using Social Media - we don't pitch. Glad to address the Global
Product Management Talk, a great application of social tools in support of
the professional product management community!"
Rob D. La Gesse, Chief Disruption Officer, Rackspace Discussed The Crucial Necessity Of Knowing Your
Customer And Understanding How To Address Everything From A Crisis To The Everyday Question
Quickly And Effectively
INTRO
Many customers are sitting listening to hold music waiting for their problem to get resolved. Instead of stewing
privately, they are now airing their grievances publicly to anyone and everyone that will listen. The BP oil spill and
Toyota recalls have shown how people are using social media tools to give pissed off customers a new voice – and
it’s a megaphone. Knowing your customer and understanding how to address everything from a crisis to the
everyday question quickly and effectively is critical. We'll talk about some big flubs, how the ball was dropped, what
could have been done differently and the value of social support to help customers win.
Each week, The Global Product Management Talk features an expert guest discussing pre-posted questions with
the co-hosts and Twitter participants broadcast live over BlogTalkRadio. The transcript of Tweets and podcast are
available for on-demand consumption on the web, iTunes, Google Play and mobile devices.

About Robert D. La Gesse
Rob LaGesse is a Serial Entrepreneur, Software Developer, and Customer Junkie. As the Chief Disruption Officer,
he heads up social media efforts at Rackspace. His passion is taking care of customers and he goes to great
lengths to do so. Though he was hired as the Director of Software Development for the Rackspace Cloud, he soon
realized his heart was in “who” they were writing software for, and not the software. He says he was building for the
Internet before we had the Internet, writing wireless apps before many had wireless and doing large scale software
testing before it was cool. However, he was unhappy building software because he wanted to build something he
could get feedback on NOW – like customer satisfaction.
Robert said, "In my team I am looking to get people that know the products, the company and how the company
works rather than them actually knowing how to solve customer issues."
