Mario Bunge critiques dialectics as presented by philosophers such as Hegel, Engels, and Lenin. He argues that dialectics has a "plausible kernel" in recognizing that all things change over time and new qualities can emerge, but this is surrounded by a "mystic fog" consisting of three problematic theses: 1) that every object has an anti-object, 2) that all opposites are in conflict, and 3) that each stage of development negates and is negated by previous/next stages. Bunge believes that by clarifying ambiguous terms, dialectics could be made more intelligible, but it would then be a "weaker" theory limited to transformation rather than a universal

The document describes a problem involving a hotdog vendor's costs, revenue, and potential profit. It asks the reader to:
1) Write equations to represent the vendor's total cost C(h) and revenue R(h) as functions of hotdogs sold h.
2) Graph C(h) and R(h) and identify the break-even point where costs equal revenue.
3) Derive an equation for the profit function P(h) and identify its domain and range.
4) Calculate that the maximum daily profit the vendor can earn is $255 by selling 250 hotdogs.

Building a CNS-ASU Communications StrategyDaniel Hooker
This document outlines a strategic communications framework for the CNS-ASU (Center for Neuroscience - Arizona State University). It discusses using a variety of tools like a new website, multimedia content like videos and photos, and social media to communicate about the Center's past, present and future work. For the past, it suggests archiving activities and showcasing lessons learned. For the present, it focuses on promoting ongoing activities. And for the future, it discusses highlighting achievements to secure additional funding and establish a legacy for the Center. The document ends with questions to spur discussion around key messages, target audiences, prioritizing outreach vs. messaging, appropriate communication tools, and timing.
Bananas are unique among fruits in that they do not come from trees but rather from large herbaceous plants related to lilies and orchids. Bananas provide instant energy and contain no fat, sodium, or cholesterol. In English words with multiple syllables, one syllable receives stress and is pronounced longer, louder, or at a higher pitch than the other syllables. In the word "banana", only the second syllable is stressed and has a clear vowel sound, while the vowels in the other syllables are reduced to a schwa sound.
