Needs of Students in Elementary School
setting
 Occupational therapy (OT) will address various
student needs in an elementary school context.
 The 1st requirement is that pupils enhance their
academic performance(Kaelin et al., 2019).
 The 2nd need is that kids learn how to moderate
their conduct.
 The 3rd requirement is to educate children self-help
skills so that they can live better lives.
Needs of Students in Elementary School
setting
 The 4th requirement is to motivate pupils to participate
in sports.
 The 5th requirement is to help children with congenital
defects attain independence.
 The hazards of failing to address the demands include:
trailing in their capacity to learn.
Difficulty to communicate with others.
Not taking part in any sporting activities.
Being a step behind in achieving freedom.
Role of OT
 Occupational therapy (OT) will surely be critical in
meeting the standards.
 OT will aid in in-depth investigations to identify the
barriers to kids' academic success(Morales-Rodríguez et
al., 2019).
 OT will also teach pupils self-help strategies that can help
them develop in life.
 Assistive technology will also be provided by OT for
children with special needs(Sledgers et al., 2020).
The Program
 It will be known as school-based occupational therapy.
 A wide range of stakeholders will be involved in the
program's execution
Occupational therapists who are certified.
Educators.
Parents.
Administrators at schools.
Learners.
The Program
 The program's different stakeholders will work together to
accomplish its stated goals.
 The occupational therapist will collaborate with parents and
teachers to implement various interventions to assist pupils.
 Parents will work with pupils to resolve any issues with
homework management.
 Stress might contribute to difficulties with assignment
management.
The Program
 Parents and educators will collaborate to identify
and notify the occupational therapist of unmet
requirements.
 The administration will provide cash for wages,
training-related equipment, and resources to
facilitate the successful implementation of school-
based occupational therapy.
Materials and costs
 Assistive technology devices and instructional handouts are required
items.
 The costs are shown in the table below.
The Timeline
 The school-based occupational therapy will be carried out according
to the timeframe below.
Benefits and Growth Projections.
 The advantages of school-based occupational therapy
include:
 improved academic performance (AOTA, 2021)
 increased participation in extracurricular activities
 simple adaptation to different educational levels.
 Regarding growth estimates, the program will surely be
incorporated as a vital component of the school curriculum.
 Increased stakeholder support has resulted in this expansion.
