2. Check the Condition of Your Battery
Cold weather has a tendency to lessen the
functionality of car batteries. A standard battery
has a plastic cap on the top part. Take that off so
you can check the level of the fluid. Add some
water if you see that the battery has low fluid. If
you are using batteries that are maintenance-
free, you can check the status of the battery at
the window on the top part. If your battery is over
five years old, it is better to replace it right away.

3. Change Your Car Wiper Blades
It is recommended to change your wiper
blades at least two times every year. If you
start seeing streaks on the glass, that is a
surefire sign it is time to replace the blades.
Simply cleaning the blade's rubber edge may
help extend its life, but it’s not a good idea in
the winter months. What you need to do is
replace your blades with new ones.

4. Keep Your Car Windows Clear
It can be dangerous if you are unable to see
outside your car window. In cold
temperatures, it is better to use an ice scraper
or antifreeze. Take the time to check your
antifreeze reservoir whenever you stop at a
gas station in the winter, and refill when you
get low.
Prevent fog from developing on your
windshield by running the air conditioner to
remove any moisture.

5. Monitor Your Motor Oil
Oil tends to thicken in colder temperatures,
which causes some difficulty for your engine.
Every time you get an oil change, make sure
that the system has a good flow. You can do
this by replacing the oil filter.
If your car is in a mechanic shop, ask the staff
there to check your heater and radiator for
leaks or cracks. Also, have them check for any
oil contamination. A good working hose will
be elastic but still firm.

6. Change Your Tires
Preferably, if replace one tire, replace all
four of them. Consider purchasing
dedicated winter tires to add safety while
driving your vehicle on the wet or icy
roads. Winter tires are normally noisier
and have a shorter lifespan compared to
all-season tires. However, winter tires can
save your life.
