MATLAB is a numerical computing environment and programming language that was created in the 1970s. It is used widely in academia and industry. The MathWorks is the privately held company that develops and supports MATLAB. In 2015, The MathWorks' revenue was $800 million with over 1 million users worldwide. MATLAB is used across many industries including engineering, science, and finance. HAMS aims to provide the capabilities of MATLAB with higher performance and lower power consumption for applications like robotics.
