Management of host plant resistance through immunizationAnshul Arya
it is a small presentation prepared for seminar purpose .immunization is a new technique very few people know about it even i did not get any slide prepared by it earlier even whatever i got was not purchased .so i prepared it for those who are interested to know about it without having problems to find the matter for it.
The document summarizes the botanical characteristics of the plant family Fabaceae (Leguminosae). It describes key features such as the taproot with root nodules, pinnately compound leaves, papilionaceous flowers, and legume fruits. Economically important plants in the family include soybeans, peas, beans, and groundnuts. There is discussion of the phylogeny of the family and its classification within the order Fabales. In closing, the author thanks the recipient for their time.

This document discusses two types of bunt that infect wheat: karnal bunt and common bunt. Karnal bunt, caused by the fungus Tilletia indica, was first reported in India in 1931. It reduces wheat flour and grain quality, causing annual yield losses of about 1%. Common bunt is caused by either Tilletia caries or T. foetida. It produces spore balls instead of kernels on infected wheat ears. The document covers the identification, spread, favorable conditions, and management of both diseases through cultural and chemical methods. Resistant wheat varieties and crop rotation are recommended for control.
Phytoalexins are antimicrobial compounds produced by plants in response to pathogens like fungi and bacteria. Some key phytoalexins include ipomeamarone from sweet potato, pisatin from pea pods, phaseollin from bean pods, and glyceollin I from soybeans. Phytoalexins are synthesized after the plant recognizes molecules from the pathogen. They function to inhibit pathogen growth through mechanisms like disrupting cell membranes or inhibiting energy production. Their production is part of the plant's defense response and helps contribute to resistance against diseases.

Systemic acquired resistance (SAR): A novel strategy for plant protection.mohd younus wani
Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is a plant's defense response that confers long-lasting, broad-spectrum resistance against pathogens following initial infection. SAR involves the signal molecule salicylic acid (SA) and accumulation of pathogenesis-related proteins. Upon primary infection, SA and other signals like jasmonates are produced at the infection site and translocate systemically via the phloem to activate defenses elsewhere. This results in increased levels of antimicrobial proteins that protect the plant even in uninfected tissues. SA is essential for SAR induction, as transgenic plants unable to produce SA do not exhibit SAR. The onset of SAR involves the generation of mobile signals that activate defenses within hours, though full resistance may take days to

This document discusses plant viruses, including their definition, morphology, properties, transmission, and movement within plants. It provides definitions of viruses from Mathwas and Bos, and describes three main shapes of plant viruses: elongated, rhabdo, and spherical. It covers biological properties like infectivity, physiological properties like thermal endpoint, and chemical properties including host range and serological reactions. Methods of virus transmission include vegetative propagation, mechanical transmission, and natural transmission by insects, mites, nematodes, seed, pollen, and dodder. Viruses spread systemically within plants by modifying plasmodesmata to move between cells.
Puccinia graminis is a fungus that causes black stem rust disease in wheat. It has a complex life cycle involving two different hosts. On wheat, its primary host, the fungus reproduces asexually through urediniospores and teliospores. On barberry, its secondary host, it reproduces sexually through basidiospores. The spores produced on each host are able to infect the other, completing the life cycle. The polymorphic nature of the fungus allows it to produce different spore types adapted for each host.
This document discusses lichens, which are symbiotic associations between fungi and algae or cyanobacteria. It describes the mycobiont and phycobiont partners, different lichen morphologies like crustose, foliose and fruticose, their anatomy, nutrition, growth, and sexual and asexual reproduction. It also covers the occurrence of lichens on different substrates, their importance as food, in producing dyes, perfumes and medicines, and as pollution indicators. Lichens are classified based on their mycobiont partners into ascolichens, basidiolichens and deuterolichens.

This document summarizes information about Alternaria diseases that affect okra. It discusses the pathogen Alternaria chlamydospora, which causes leaf spot on okra. It describes the symptoms of Alternaria leaf spot as dark brown spots on leaves that give a target-like appearance. It provides details on the morphology and cultural characteristics of A. chlamydospora and compares it to other Alternaria species that infect okra. The document also reviews research on the pathogenicity, occurrence, and effective fungicides for controlling A. chlamydospora in okra.
Brassicaceae or Cruciferae is a medium-sized and economically important family of flowering plants commonly known as the mustards, the crucifers, or the cabbage family.. The Brassicaceae family includes broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, mustard (greens), and collards. Collectively, these crops are referred to as cole crops or crucifers

The document discusses various types of abiotic stresses that negatively impact plant growth and productivity. It defines abiotic stress and describes different abiotic stresses including water stress, temperature stress, light stress, wind stress, salt stress, and heavy metal stress. It discusses the effects of these stresses on plants and mechanisms plants have evolved to respond to stresses. The document also covers the role of plant tissue culture in introducing stress resistance to plants through genetic engineering techniques like gene transfer.
