The sermons I will present and the classes I teach in 2013 will be focused on the Four Pillars: God, Family, Work and Service.
Each Pillar is foundation to the life we live in Christ each day.
The document discusses the importance of belonging to God's spiritual family, the church. It makes several key points:
1) God's plan has always been for us to be adopted into his family through Jesus Christ.
2) Loving our spiritual family makes us more like God and allows us to practice for eternity.
3) Our second purpose in life is fellowship, which involves loving God's family.
4) The church is not an organization but a family that believers choose to belong to through baptism, which symbolizes being united with Christ.
1) God created life on Earth and cares for all his creations, from sparrows to humans. He gave laws and teachings to help people live healthy lives.
2) Humans are both physical and spiritual beings. To live fully, one must accept new spiritual birth through Christ to gain eternal life.
3) God created people to live in community with others. True happiness comes from cultivating social relationships and using one's gifts to bless others.
The Terrible Twosome of Burdens Fear and Loneliness - Rob Ferry 6-19-16DenverCoC
So far in our series we have looked at laying down the burdens of a lesser God, self-reliance, want (envy), weariness, worry, guilt and grief. Today we tackle the terrible twosome of burdens, Fear and Loneliness, and find some surprising answers. Join us today in Psalm 23:4 to learn how to lighten your load and start living your life the way God imagined.
The Holy Spirit acts to unite both individuals and the Church as a whole. The document outlines several ways the Spirit accomplishes this unity:
1) Through uniting believers with Christ as the cornerstone and foundation.
2) Through baptism, which symbolizes dying to the old life and being reborn into the body of the Church.
3) Through the Word of God, as both the living Word (Christ) and written word strengthen unity.
4) Through shared faith and doctrine based on biblical teachings.
5) Through united mission and service, as seen in the early Church's fellowship, sharing, and outreach after Pentecost.
God's ultimate purpose is to prepare a bride for his son. Believers are called to experience the same oneness as the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The key to unity and oneness is peace. When people receive salvation through Jesus Christ, God's wrath is turned away and they stand righteous before God. God desires for believers to know his oneness through walking in the peace of Christ. The witness of the church in the world depends on its effectiveness in being one with God.
Wheaton College professor Larycia Hawkins was accused of promoting syncretism for saying she stands in religious solidarity with Muslims because Christians and Muslims worship the same God. The document provides multiple passages from Colossians encouraging Christians to remain deeply rooted in faith while living out its teachings. It warns against syncretism, or combining different religious beliefs, giving examples like saying "God is a Republican."
This document contains inspirational quotes and messages about living purposefully for God. It encourages avoiding regret by expressing gratitude to God, making wise choices, and understanding our potential and calling. Quotes emphasize expecting great things from God and creating great things for Him. The document discusses being stewards of God's assets on earth and of the gifts, time, and bodies he has given us.

The document discusses passages from the Bible about the body of Christ and being baptized into one body. It references 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 4:4, and 1 Corinthians 12:27 which all discuss there being one body, one Spirit, one faith, and believers comprising the body of Christ.
Baptism testifies to that which has already happened in believers; we are buried with Christ and raised from the dead in the Power of God's Holy Spirit.
The document discusses living a whole-life faith according to the teachings of Jesus. It encourages continuing to follow Jesus and allowing him to shape one's life. It provides guidance for different relationships like wives submitting to husbands, husbands loving wives, children obeying parents, slaves obeying masters, and masters treating slaves fairly. The overall message is to serve the Lord Jesus in all aspects of life, both at home and at work.
The document summarizes a biblical passage from Numbers chapters 17 describing an event where Moses was instructed by God to take a staff representing each of the 12 tribes of Israel. He wrote Aaron's name on the staff of Levi and placed them in the tent before God. The next day, only Aaron's staff had sprouted, budded and blossomed, demonstrating that Aaron and his lineage would be chosen as the priestly line.
Paul introduces himself as a servant of Christ Jesus called to be an apostle. He discusses how the gospel was promised beforehand through prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding God's Son Jesus, who was descended from David and declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead. Through Jesus, Paul and others received grace and apostleship to call people from among all nations to obedience through faith, including the Romans. Paul is obligated to preach the gospel to both Jews and Gentiles because the gospel is God's power for salvation to all who believe, as it reveals a righteousness from God through faith.
Compendium of the catechism chapter 2aLian Giangan
God reveals himself to humanity through deeds and words over time. In the beginning, God revealed himself to Adam and Eve and promised salvation after the fall. God later established covenants with Noah after the flood and with Abraham, making him the father of many nations. God formed Israel as his chosen people, giving them his law through Moses and speaking through prophets. The full revelation of God is through his Son Jesus Christ, who as the Word made flesh is the perfect and definitive revelation. While private revelations are not part of the deposit of faith, they can help people live the faith if they lead to Christ.
This document discusses the authority and importance of Scripture. It references passages from 2 Timothy emphasizing that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching righteousness. It notes that those who want to live godly lives will face persecution, while evil people will worsen. The document argues that the Bible has unity, accuracy, and fulfilled prophecy indicating its unique authority. It stresses that the Bible should shape how believers live and that God has spoken through Scripture so believers must listen well.
This document promotes the idea of Christians coming together in unity locally and globally to form "Jesus' Glorious Church" as a non-denominational body. It describes a vision where there is "One Church in Every City on Earth" and cites Jesus' prayer for unity in John 17. The document claims the author received a word from God saying unity and coming together in His name are vital, and failure to do so will lead to spiritual death. It invites readers to learn more and participate in building this united church.
This document discusses the importance of unity in prayer. It provides several Bible passages that emphasize the need for Christians to be united in spirit and purpose. Specifically, it discusses that unity does not require uniformity, but rather appreciating diversity while coming together in agreement. The document encourages creating prayer circles and setting guidelines to pray for different things each day of the week in order to build unity and cooperation among believers. It also notes that when the early church was united, God's power and blessings were evident.
The document discusses the concept of mercy. It provides a working definition of mercy as actively showing compassion to others at no cost to oneself. It explains that mercy is something we must learn and exemplify, and is among the weightier matters of God's law. The document encourages learning about mercy and how showing mercy to others demonstrates that God lives within us. It prompts the reader to consider whether they are ready and willing to show mercy to others as Jesus and God have shown mercy to humanity.
The document discusses the importance of unity among believers. It provides several key points:
1. Unity means agreement and uniformity, particularly in doctrine and worship. Achieving unity requires having one goal, direction, purpose, and prayer.
2. Accepting one another as Christ accepted us, while we were still sinners, is vital for unity. Loving one another as Christ loved us will show the world we are His disciples.
3. The early church was unified in heart, mind, and possessions, with no one in need. God's powerfully working in unity and prayer.
The overall message is that true unity among believers requires agreement, acceptance of one another, and sharing with one
This document discusses how believers are called to be "living stones" in God's spiritual house. It says we are being built up by the Holy Spirit to be a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ. As priests of God, we have been given authority through Christ to exercise God's authority and share responsibility with Him. The document encourages readers to use the authority and leadership God has given and to be equipped for their role as authoritative yet humble priests of God.
Colossians 2:6-7 encourages Christians to continue living in Christ, being rooted and built up in their faith through teaching and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 1:24-29 describes how Paul is suffering for the church and preaching the mystery of Christ in them, which is the hope of glory. He teaches with wisdom to present everyone as mature in Christ.
Colossians 2:1-5 expresses Paul's effort to encourage and unite believers in love so they may have a full understanding of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all wisdom and knowledge. He does not want them deceived by arguments without his presence.
This document discusses where a person gets their identity from. It argues that a person's identity comes from being a child of God and follower of Jesus. As a child of God in Christ, a person is accepted, secure, and significant. Several Bible verses are cited that discuss how those who are in Christ are accepted by God and brought into right relationship with Him.
Series unchained message – part 2 - mosaic – sunday 04-10-16LifePointe Church
This is the second message in Pastor Chuck Bernal's series, "UNCHAINED" (Breaking Free From The Pain, The Power And The Prison Of The Past). The message is titled, "MOSAIC - Putting The Broken Pieces Back Together". In this message Pastor Chuck talks about the fact that all of us are broken and how God can use our brokenness to make us better people. Using 7 examples from Scripture, Pastor Chuck shows the specific ways brokenness has an impact on our lives. As He puts the pieces of our lives back together, we become His "masterpiece". This message was delivered at LifePointe Church on Sunday, April 10, 2016.
God is our Father and we are His children. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we make up the family of God and the Church. We should treat each other as family and invite others to join our family home through Christ.
These passages from Colossians describe Jesus Christ. They say that he is the visible image of the invisible God, that he created all things, and that he holds all of creation together. It also says that he reconciled all things to God through his death on the cross and that he is supreme over all.
The document discusses the characteristics of outstanding mothers based on Mary, the mother of Jesus. It lists three key characteristics: having a personal relationship with God through faith and obedience, maintaining a proper relationship with her family by supporting her husband and teaching her children, and demonstrating a willingness to serve God wholeheartedly as Mary did in raising Jesus. Lord Shaftesbury is quoted as saying that a generation of Christian mothers could transform society within a year through exemplifying these motherly virtues.

This lessons seeks to help know the character of God and discover the blessings He provides.
This lesson covers the passage of Proverbs 6.16-19.
There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
(Proverbs 6:16-19)
The passage describes a servant inviting guests to a banquet who make excuses for not attending, so the host invites others including the poor, crippled, lame and blind instead. The parable teaches that while the Jews were originally invited to God's kingdom, many made excuses and so God extended the invitation to the gentiles as well.
This document discusses three dimensional unity - in the human body, the church, and the family. It provides biblical passages about each and how they are similar as interconnected systems where each part has a role. While diverse, they require cooperation and healthy habits to function well. The document encourages examining one's own physical, spiritual, and family lives to identify strengths and weaknesses and steps to improve unity.
This article discusses how God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. It notes that while God is all-powerful, He chooses to work through humans. The article provides several biblical examples of ordinary people like Moses, Gideon, Daniel, Rahab, Paul, and Peter that God used mightily. It encourages readers not to think they cannot be used by God, as He continues to work through people today. The author asks readers to make themselves available for God to use for His purposes in the coming year.
We were created to become children of God, joint-heirs of Jesus who will rule and reign with Him in heaven. Salvation through Jesus is all of that! Get to know Jesus! Glory God no with your lives and prepare yourselves to rule with Jesus forever in heaven!! Don't waste your life just living for earthly things. Prepare for eternity by loving, enjoying and obeying Jesus NOW!

This document summarizes the key points from a session on forming the human person after God's image. It discusses the four types of formation - human, intellectual, pastoral, and moral. It covers topics like the virtues, role of parents in forming children, brain development, and importance of relationships. It also profiles Don Bosco's preventative system and vision of creating homes filled with joy. Finally, it examines the life of prayer of St. Joseph and his role as a man after God's own heart in forming Jesus at Nazareth.
This document discusses developing one's spiritual life through prayer. It recommends giving God some of one's time each day through activities like morning and evening prayer. It analyzes King Henry VIII's issues with pride and competing brain systems related to prayer versus feelings of being in charge. Building a regular prayer life through a spiritual plan is suggested, evaluating one's current prayer habits. The encounter with Christ through prayer can help rediscover one's first love, as seen in the story of the Samaritan woman.
This is second in the Easter series called Jesus, God's Terminator--a man from the future sent back to earth to rescue people from much evil.

Session 3 who is god who is jesus christ 2017Stephen Lim
The document discusses key topics about God and Jesus Christ, including:
- God is defined as the supreme being who is to be worshipped and served.
- Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity, believed to be both fully divine and fully human. He lived to fulfill God's plan and save humanity from sin.
- Key events in Jesus's life included his birth, ministry of teaching and performing miracles, passion and death, and resurrection. Jesus established the Church and still influences billions as one of the most important figures in history.
This document provides an overview and analysis of Romans 12:1-21 from the Bible. It discusses several key points:
1. Paul urges Christians to offer their bodies as living sacrifices to God through spiritual worship and transforming their minds by renewing them with Scripture.
2. Believers should use their spiritual gifts, such as teaching, serving, giving, and showing mercy, for the common good and without pride.
3. Christians are called to sincere love of one another, practicing hospitality, blessing persecutors, rejoicing with others, and living in harmony with all people. They should overcome evil with good.
Paul urges the Ephesians to walk in a manner worthy of their calling by demonstrating humility, gentleness, patience, and love for one another. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining unity within the church through the bond of peace. Paul highlights the "one" body, Spirit, hope, Lord, faith, baptism and God that Christians share. He then explains that Christ has given spiritual gifts to each believer according to his grace, referring to Christ's ascension to heaven after conquering sin and death through his sacrifice.
The document provides commentary on Ephesians 4:1-10. It summarizes Paul's message in these verses as encouraging Christians to walk together in unity through humility, gentleness, patience and love. It notes that spiritual gifts are given to believers by Christ to build up the church. The commentary explores concepts like humility, unity, and the ascension of Christ in light of this passage from Ephesians.
This document discusses setting one's mind on spiritual things and developing a spiritual life focused on God. It provides a three stage model of the spiritual life: purgative, illuminative, and unitive. It tells the story of Alexis Carrel and his journey to faith. It addresses developing the intellect and mind through natural knowledge, divine revelation, and contemplation. It provides steps to build a spiritual plan of life focused on reducing media, engaging with scripture, spiritual reading, prayer, and enjoying beauty. It concludes with evaluation questions on elevating the mind to God.
This document provides an overview of the 10 Commandments from a Catholic perspective. It begins with some context about the presenter and a disclaimer. It then outlines the topics to be covered, which include an examination of what the law is and its meaning, a review of the 10 Commandments, examining one's conscience, and a discussion of morality without God. The document delves into each of the 10 Commandments, comparing them to the Beatitudes and discussing their Old Testament and New Testament contexts. It contrasts the Old and New Laws. Videos are embedded to further explain some concepts. References are provided at the end for additional learning.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) presentation on "Works of Mercy," presented by David Jensen at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 26 Jan 2010.
The document discusses three dimensional unity - in the human body, the church, and the family. It explores how each is made up of different parts that work interdependently for the whole to function properly. Just as a body's various systems work together in unity, churches and families also require unity among their diverse members to thrive. Readers are prompted to reflect on strengthening the unity within their own bodies, spiritual communities, and families.
The document discusses various forms of ethical guidance found in Scripture, including casuistic law, divine commands, principles, and moral narratives. It provides examples from Genesis, the Ten Commandments, prophets, Gospels and Acts to illustrate how Scripture informs Christian moral reasoning. Key themes highlighted include God's holiness and concern for the vulnerable, connecting justice with religious practice, and the importance Jesus placed on loving actions over mere beliefs.
The document discusses the four C's of catechesis - context, content, communion, and conspiracy. It emphasizes that catechesis must engage the heart, head, hands, and feet. Effective catechesis requires understanding the current context, mastering the core content about Jesus Christ, fostering communion through collaboration, and conspiring or acting together to spread the Gospel message.

Walking by faith” means acting on what you believe.
Your belief system determines your behaviour. Explore what is a stronghold in the mind and how to build new ones using God's Word.
This document analyzes a parable told by Jesus about a fig tree that bears no fruit. It makes three key points:
1. The parable teaches that God expects believers ("fruit trees") to bear spiritual fruit, as that is their purpose. Those who do not can be "cut down."
2. The unfruitful tree in the parable was given many advantages like location and care, yet still failed, showing its fruitlessness was unacceptable.
3. God grants people (the tree) another chance to repent and bear fruit, but his patience will not last forever. Judgment is coming for those who remain unrepentant.
This lesson was presented at the Gadsden Church of Christ as a result of the Supreme Court decision regarding same sex marriage.

The document provides guidance on how to become a person of prayer. It begins with Jesus' model prayer from the book of Matthew. It then defines prayer as communication with God where one requests things from God, praises God, and addresses God. It encourages meditating on God and prioritizing his word. It advises talking to God daily by sharing problems, thanks, and sins. It suggests connecting with God, daring to pray like Daniel, and praying thankfully, in difficult times, and encouraging others, as Paul did.
This lesson was presented at the Gadsden Church of Christ on March 15th to share the need to reach out to the world. Mathew 14:22-32 as the text. As Jesus reached out to a sinking Peter, we need to reach out to a troubled world.

This lesson is based on the Armor of God spoekn by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-17. The importance is understanding the armor is not loaned, but owned. It must be put on before the battle rages on.
God's definition of good is conformity to his will in order to live with him eternally. Several verses in Romans chapter 8 qualify this, explaining that through the Holy Spirit, believers can realize God's goodness and strengthen their relationship with him. Specifically, the Spirit helps believers, intercedes for them, and those in Christ have God on their side. To experience God's goodness, one should be in Christ, focus their mind on spiritual things, communicate with God in prayer, and live according to his purpose.
This lesson was presented on February 15, 2015 as part of a series on Love. This specifically discusses the situation of the man who fell among robbers and asks the question if we are too busy in our world.

Each habit is accompanied by a brief explanation and biblical references. The habits are presented as effective strategies for Christians to have spiritual conversations based on Jesus' example in John 4.

Planning for a coming year is an important part to success, be an important part of spiritual success as well. The greater question of planning is, "Who will you take with you?"
This document discusses the importance and meaning of work. It provides biblical quotes about work being part of God's plan and how man was created to work. Additional quotes emphasize that work should be done wholeheartedly as for God, that labor deserves wages, and that those unwilling to work should not eat. The document suggests reflecting on what you will do when your work is done and questions about when you will retire or spiritually retire.
David gave his son Solomon final words of advice, challenging him to act responsibly, walk with God, and obey David's commands. A father shows love through discipline, and David disciplined Solomon out of love, just as the Scriptures instruct fathers to admonish their children using spiritual wisdom and knowledge to warn them against foolishness and temptation.
This lesson is the first lesson in the Men's Retreat. The lesson is designed to begin a discussion on setting goals and reaching for the future by changing our current outlook.
