The 4-3 defense was created by Tom Landry and consists of four down linemen, three linebackers, and four defensive backs. It aims to stop the run but also pressure the quarterback with a fluid pass rusher and zone coverage. Key players are defensive ends who rush the passer, middle linebackers who call plays and make tackles, and cornerbacks and safeties who cover receivers with the defensive line and linebackers stopping the run.
