What is time management?
• The way that you organize and plan
how much time you spend on specific
activities.
What is it about?
• Effective scheduling of your time
• Goal setting
• Analyzing and reviewing your spent time
• Motivating yourself to work towards a goal
• Prioritizing and choosing what to do and what
not to do
• Delegating tasks
Benefits of good time management.
• Less stress
• A better professional reputation
• Greater opportunities to achieve goals
• increased opportunities for advancement
• Greater productivity and efficiency
Consequences of bad time
management
• Missed deadlines
• Insufficient work flow
• Poor work quality
• A poorer professional reputation
• Higher stress levels
2. Referencing
What is referencing?
• Acknowledging work done by somebody else.
Why is it important to reference?
• Supports and strengthens your work
• refer to other research that leads up to your
study
• To validate and add credibility to your writing
• Demonstrates that you have done research
• Acknowledge the source of information to
avoid plagiarism
Consequences of not referencing
• Plagiarism
Failing and being dropped from your unit
Getting expelled from university
3. Note Taking
What is note taking?
• the practice of writing down pieces of
information in a systematic way
Why is note taking important
• Useful record
• Helps understanding
• Helps examine revision
• Helps memory
• Helps writing
