The Cougar Leadership Council (CLC) focuses on leadership and community service. It is looking for hard-working students with ideas to help the school and community who want to become student leaders. Students can join CLC by running for an officer position or representing their class. There are 5 officer positions available: President, Vice President, Secretary, Reporter, and Historian. Each officer position has specific responsibilities to help lead CLC and the school. Students interested in an officer position must submit a candidate statement by email.

2. Cougar Leadership Council (CLC) will focus on
leadership and community, which means we
will help people around us and learn to be
leaders.
We are only looking for those of you who are
hard working students with ideas of how to
help our school and community and who want
to become leaders of our school.
You can be a part of CLC by running for an
officer’s position or representing your class.
Meetings will be held during your recess.

4. PRESIDENT: Must be a 6th grader. The
President is responsible for:
Helping to decide what the important issues of
Cathcart Leadership Council will be
Helping to prepare meeting agendas
Conducting all meetings in a professional manner
Participating in all Cathcart Leadership Council
activities
Setting a good example for all students at all times
5. VICE PRESIDENT: Must be a 5th or 6th grader.
The Vice President is responsible for:
Leading the Pledge of Allegiance at all school
events
Signing off on all Cougar Leadership Council
paperwork
Filling in for the President in case he or she is
absent or unable to fulfill his or her duties
6. SECRETARY: Must be a 5th or 6th grader. The
Secretary is responsible for:
Updating the blog with meeting minutes
Writing thank you notes
Keeping attendance records
7. HISTORIAN: Must be a 5th or 6th grader. The
Historian is responsible for:
Capturing pictures of major school events as well
as day to day events
Preparing a slideshow for the end of the year
Creating monthly bulletin boards for the office
8. Reporter: Must be a 5th or 6th grader. The
Reporter is responsible for:
Gathering news items from teachers
Preparing a script for the Cathcart News Network
Assigning news casters their stories
Filming and producing the Cathcart News Network
Filming/producing special projects
9. Note: All CLC meetings will be BEFORE school
on Wednesdays. You will need to find a ride
to school (from your family or other CLC
members) in order to have a position in CLC.
10. If you want to run for a position, register to
vote and then get a petition form.
E-mail a Candidate Statement about why you
believe you should be in the final elections
and for which position you are running.
The e-mailed statement will be read by voters
in each 5th, 6th, and 4/5/6 classroom for
primary elections. Please make sure it
accurately represents what you, as a
candidate, want to say. All statements must be
no longer than two paragraphs.
