1. God is seated on the throne lofty and exalted, surrounded by six-winged creatures praising his holiness.
2. Isaiah sees a vision of God and feels unworthy due to his sinfulness, but has his guilt removed by a burning coal.
3. Isaiah volunteers to be God's messenger when asked by God.
First lesson in the relentless pursuit of Holiness series, shared by Wayne Cornwell on Sunday August 3 at Highland Heights church of Christ, Smyrna, TN.
Who was Uzziah? Why did Isaiah “see the Lord when Uzziah died”? Who is your Uzziah? Who are the seraphim? What is their function? What did Isaiah see and hear them doing? What effect did their worship have on the Temple and on the Prophet Isaiah? How will you respond upon observing holy angels worshipping “the Lord high and lifted up”? Why does Isaiah confess, “I am a man of unclean lips and dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips”? Would you confess the same? Why? Did Isaiah actually see the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach? (Jn. 12:37-41) Have you actually seen Him? How? (Jn. 1:9,14) How has “beholding Him” changed you? (2 Cor. 3:18; 1 Jn. 3:2)
Lesson 20 of 26 in a series on Old Testament Vistas. This sermon on Isaiah 6 was presented April 10, 2011, at Palm Desert Church of Christ, by Dale Wells.
Isaiah said that all our righteousness is like filthy (menstrual) rags. Good for nothing, trash, throw it away! I have no gift to bring to God. What could I bring Him that would matter? Only my life, soul and spirit and that is only because Jesus died for me. I will not glory in my righteousness - only in the cross of Jesus!

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. LOOKING IN THREE DIRECTIONS
ISAIAH 6
1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was sitting on his throne,
high and exalted, and his robe filled the whole Temple. 2Round him flaming creatures
were standing, each of which had six wings. Each creature covered its face with two
wings, and its body with two, and used the other two for flying. 3They were calling
out to each other:
“Holy, holy, holy!
The LORD Almighty is holy!
His glory fills the world.”
4The sound of their voices made the foundation of the Temple shake, and the Temple
itself was filled with smoke.p
5I said, “There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my
lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with
my own eyes, I have seen the King, the LORD Almighty!”
6Then one of the creatures flew down to me, carrying a burning coal that he had
taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7He touched my lips with the burning coal
and said, “This has touched your lips, and now your guilt is gone, and your sins are
forgiven.”
8Then I heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?”
I answered, “I will go! Send me!”
