This document outlines the different types of sentences for a 2nd grade language arts class: statements, which tell something and end with a period; questions, which ask something and end with a question mark; commands, which tell what to do and end with a period; and exclamations, which express excitement and end with an exclamation point. Examples are provided for each sentence type to illustrate proper punctuation.

4. STATEMENT
A statement sentence tells you something.
• It ends with a period (.)
-Susie ate strawberry and vanilla ice creamfor lunch.

5. QUESTION
A question sentence asks you something.
• Its ends with a question mark (?)
-What flavor did you have?

6. COMMAND
A command sentence tells you what to do.
• It ends with a period (.) also.
-Please get me another scoop.

7. EXCLAMATION
An exclamation sentence expresses excitement.
• It ends with an exclamation (!) mark.
-It was very delicious!
