GASCO was established in 1978 as a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and international oil companies Shell, Total, and Partex to process natural gas from Abu Dhabi's oil operations that was previously being flared. GASCO converts associated gas into marketable products like natural gas liquids which are used domestically and exported internationally. Its plants include Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, and Ruwais NGL plants and the Habshan Gas Plant. Ownership is shared between ADNOC with 68% and the other partners each holding 15% or 2%.
