Roadmap to designing a wki education course wmcee-2015Vassia Atanassova
This document outlines parameters to consider when designing a Wikipedia Education Program (WEP) course. It discusses institution parameters like the type of institution and course parameters like level and format. It also addresses motivations like generating more content/editors and innovative teaching. Key questions are identified around roles, communication, skills developed, and assessing without Wikipedia. Potential problems cover infrastructure, editing difficulties, and content issues like copyright or notability. Feedback is requested to determine most important parameters for a new WEP course.
This is my presentation for the Wiki Education Programme panel at the 11th annual Wikimania conference in Mexico City. The presentation was to be delivered on 17 July 2015.
Here I share some of the discovered pitfalls and protocols of the wiki education programme in Bulgaria, as well as some tried and tested local teaching experiences.
This document discusses Wikipedia and new media. It explores why Wikipedia is so popular, questions about its reliability, and how media and Wikipedia interact. It notes that media often copy content from Wikipedia without verification, while Wikipedia cites media sources. The document also discusses free and open content, explaining the four freedoms of free culture: use, study, share, and improve. It covers issues around copyrights, public domain works, and permissible combinations of free licenses.
