• In 2018 Memphis celebrated the weeklong commemoration of the fiftieth
(50th) anniversary of the sacrifice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This event,
known as MLK50, put Memphis on the world stage with visitors, dignitaries,
and media personalities from around the world. More than seven thousand
(7,000) participants attended to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. without any
problems. Over three hundred (300) Memphis Police Officers, Police Service
Technicians, and police recruits ensured the safety of all who attended.
