Consumerism culture in America is a toxic and obsessive concept.Bil-
lion dollar companies are profitting off of our laziness, and our need for the

KATIEKILCOYNE OF LOOKING AT A BLACKBIRD
Based on the poem “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird” by Wallace
Stevens. Here is my abstract protrayal, while still trying to maintain some
basic imagery.I wanted to capture that feeling of a winter scene, something to
peacefully observe. However, I also wanted to include this etehral blackbird, that
swithces between being a part of the sceneary, and also moving in and around it.

THE ELEMENTS
Earth. Air. Fire. Wate. These are the four elements
of our world. I wanted to encorporate all four of
these elements into my design. I wanted one
harmonious design that was a little more literal
this time than abstract. I used a basic mandala
structure as my background and overlayed a
golden spiral to help with the total flow of the piece.
EXQUISITE
CORPSE
This project required collaboration with my fellow colleagues. Each of us started with
our orignal scan of random items and passed it around to other students for them
to add and modify their own images, I ended up creating the work above based on
those additions. To the right I have an image of my original scan, along with another
students work that I collaborated with and added to from my own orignal scan.
VARIATIONSSimple yet detailed, this
project was all about creating
an image meant to be
printed out on a large scale
without losing any quality.
I used images from my
favorite place in the world,
Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
My original images already
had such a heavy saturation
considering that I decided
to exagerate that saturation
by highlighting different
colors. I used green, cyan,
and magenta to make each
column unique, but still in
synch.
