Zodml 2019 in review
The year 2019 was indeed an eventful and fulfilling one for us. From the establishment of libraries in schools across Nigeria to several activities at our internet learning centre to provision of free internet to library users.
A major milestone of our 20th anniversary was also recorded in 2019. Here is our review from the year 2019
Libraries in schools
School libraries provide students access to information through hardcopy books and computers, which helps enhance learning. They offer a quiet space for students to research extra resources and do schoolwork. School libraries benefit students, teachers, and even the surrounding community by providing a variety of information and activities to engage with.
ZODML 2015
ZODML is a Nigerian NGO founded in 1999 with a vision of providing all Nigerians access to information and education. In 2015, in addition to existing projects, ZODML donated over 45,000 books, started literacy programs in schools, established 3 prison libraries, a reading initiative in secondary schools, provided free internet access in public libraries, and established 5 school libraries.
English 2
The central library of Ulaanbaatar was established in 1980 to provide information, culture, and leisure to the capital city's population. It has branches in four districts and provides services like reading rooms, an American culture center, internet access, Braille books, and portable library services. The library is located on Seoul Street in Sukhbaatar District and operates Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm in winter and 9am to 6pm in summer.
Library idp services kherson
Library Branch #3 of Kherson Central Library established new services to support 27 internal displaced persons (IDPs) from Luhansk and Donetsk who were temporarily housed in a dormitory near the library. The library organized donations for IDPs, allowed free book check-out and reference services, provided free Wi-Fi access both inside and outside the library, offered internet and movie services, and a space for children to spend time while parents worked. The library also collaborated with social media groups and charities to help IDPs and increased the number of donated items as more IDPs from the area started using the new services.

ZODML also strengthened existing library programs, opened new libraries, received large book donations, and supported various educational initiatives throughout the year.
Roslin Orphanage In Brief 01

The ZODML Secondary School Reading Programme aims to encourage Nigerian secondary school students to read regularly and use libraries. Through the "Meet the Author" program, 26 students per month are selected to read a book and meet with the author at the community library. Since launching in 2012 with author J.P. Clark, over 286 students have participated and engaged with 11 authors. The program provides students with a book to read, an interactive session with the author, and a library card to encourage future library use.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

- 5. 2. In-School Libraries Established 5 new in-school libraries in 5 schools with a total of 6,963 books in Umudioka and Ifitedunu local government area of Anambra state.
- 6. 3. Prison Libraries Established prison libraries in Agodi and Oyo town prison in Oyo state, Ile-Ife Prisons in Osun state and Ijebu Prison in Ogun state.

Performance Highlight • A total of 1,199 students took Practical Computer lessons at our Internet Learning Center • Our website (www.zodml.org) witnesses an average of 17,000 visitors weekly • 5,773 government secondary school students were beneficiaries of our BookCorner project and had access to over 3,000 books • 468 government primary and secondary school students benefitted from 18 reading programme sessions during the year.

- 9. 1. Summer Holiday Program ZODML Summer Holiday Program held from the 1st of 31st of August with a total of 268 students in attendance and the closing ceremony was done in collaboration with UBA foundation.
- 10. 2. Dinosaurs Movie We thrilled pupils to the movie, Jurassic park (1993) based on their curiosity about Dinosaurs after one of our reading programmes where the pupils read a book titled ‘A Little Living Dinosaur’ by Peter McDonnell.
