Objective:- A professional career in teaching where I can use my skills and aptitude in A. Class
Management, B. Student Engagement & Motivation, C. Creative delivery of educational
content, especially in History and Social studies. I have a successful track record in working
with low to moderate functioning autistic students.
Education:-
• 2007, Bachelor’s of Arts ( History) from the University of Oklahoma, Norman,OK-
• 2005, Associate’s of Arts degree, New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM
• 2002, High School diploma, Denton High School, Denton, TX
Work Experience-
• Special Education Teaching Assistant; Norman North High School- (2010-present):
After working as a substitute at another school in the district, I was recruited to join the
staff at one of two High Schools in Norman, Oklahoma. While working in this capacity,
I have been responsible for 1-5 High School-age children with a multitude of disabilities,
most of who are on the autism spectrum. My overall goal is to facilitate my students’
daily adherence to a schedule of classes, while ensuring that they participate in said
classes in a functional, non-destructive manner. Some of my specific duties have included
acting as a liaison between students and teachers, as well as parents and teachers. I have
also had to contain, and eliminate the occasional violent outbursts committed by my
students. Finally, I have provided input regarding a student’s progress, and
academic/emotional abilities. This input has been used in creating and amending
Individualized Education Plans, or “IEPs”. I have had four performance reviews, and
have consistently been ranked as a dependable, effective and reliable employee.
• Youth counselor, Crossroads Youth and Family services(2009-2011, part-time,
nights and weekends)- For an average of 16 hours a week, I worked with, and counseled
at- risk and disadvantaged youth at a shelter, and a detention facility in Norman OK. At
the detention facility (the Juvenile Intervention Center), myself and another co-worker
awaited the arrival of young people who had been arrested by the police for various
offenses-ranging from curfew violation, to drunk and disorderly conduct. Once a young
person had been brought into the detention facility, myself and my coworker would
contact their parent and/or legal guardian. These encounters were unpredictable, and
sometimes I and my coworker had to either defuse occasional violent or erratic behavior,
or contact the appropriate authorities such as the police, or DHS.
• CNG fueler, Kelly Amerit vans (2010-2012, part-time, nights)- I refueled, and
performed light maintenance on Compressed Natural Gas vans licensed to a company

called Kelly Amerit. I also did this alone, unsupervised and at night in a rough
neighborhood. I also did this job at night before, and after my full-time job as a Special
Education teaching assistant.
• Custodian, Sam Noble Museum of Natural History( 2006-2008, part and full time,
nights): I cleaned and performed maintenance at the nation’s largest university-based
museum. I was responsible for 12 private offices filled with research and data, as well as
one of 5 main gallery exhibits housing millions of dollars worth of equipment,
electronics, sensors, and artifacts. I was usually the only non-security personnel in the
museum from closing until midnight or later. During VIP-invitation events, scheduled
solely at the museum, I assisted and managed cleanliness, safety, and emergency
situations.
Avocation/Interests-
