- 13. ABOUT THE KORUS FESTIVAL The KORUS festival is a celebration of Korean American life, music, and culture. This community and family-oriented event is one of greater Washington’s premier events, with close to 30,000 visitors and participation from over 50 vendors, retailers, and community groups including over 20 performance artists, and over 100 volunteers. Building on the success of the past thirteen years, this event will feature music and dance performances by traditional Korean artists, K-pop groups, delicious Korean cuisine, arts and crafts. The Korean American Associa- tion of the Washington Metropolitan Area is proud to present the 14th Annual KORUS Festival to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Korea. The 2016 KORUS Festival will be an even greater success through its partnership with the Tyson’s Corner Center, a nationally-known and centrally-located venue in the heart of Northern Virginia. With higher visibility and increased pedestrian traffic, sponsors will be exposed to new and diverse audiences from throughout the Washington, DC area. It is the largest Korean American Festival in Washing- ton Metropolitan area which promotes Korean cultures. The KORUS Festival has attracted tens of thousands of people with diverse backgrounds and heritage in celebration of Korea. Live music, dance shows, celebrity attractions, and martial arts performances have entertained millennials and delighted the elderly. A vast variety of traditional Korean food mixed with newer fusion options keep spectators fueled throughout the two-day event. The KORUS Festival serves as a gateway to a diverse cultural experience right here in America—extending and expanding minds and hearts with a focus on generational and cultural similarities. It promotes mutual understanding and amicable relations both within the Korean American community and to a wider mainstream audience.
