Upcoming events include presentations on mood, stress and sleep by Dr. Deutschman in May and a golf tournament in June to support mental health initiatives.
The SafeChurch training program helped Andy Hromoko's church develop policies and training to enhance safety on their campus. The nine-month program trained representatives from 11 churches on preventing and addressing child sexual abuse through prevention, intervention, policy development, and support for survivors. Carl Baughman said the program helps churches raise awareness through various activities and provides customized seminars and a retreat for survivors.

Plenary Speaker - Jack Naftel, MD
Dr. Jack Naftel will discuss the presentation, course and treatments of common
mental disorders in childhood and adolescence, with a focus on risks and benefits of
pharmacological treatment. The session will cover barriers and difficulties that impair
long term treatment success.

Youth M.O.V.E.
Members of Youth M.O.V.E. North Carolina will work as a diverse collective of young
adults to empower youth to advocate for their rights and those of other youth at the
local, state and national level. We will raise awareness of youth struggles across all
systems and work to reduce the stigma attached to mental health.
Keynote Speaker - Gary E. Nelson, DMin
Depression is one of the top killers of teens. Dr. Nelson is a pastoral counselor and
pastor with over 38 years of experience working with teens and families. His son
suffered through depression and anxiety as a teen. Dr. Nelson used his son’s story
to talk about teen depression in his book, A Relentless Hope: Surviving the Storm of
Teen Depression. In this seminar Dr. Nelson will dialogue about teen depression –
what it looks like on the outside and inside, help for those teens suffering from
depression, and help for those walking the journey with the teens.

Only the sessions marked with an (*) are eligible for Category A NC Psychology credit.
Category A NC Psychology Credit: This program will provide 2.0 contact hours of
continuing education for North Carolina Psychologists.
Wake AHEC CEU: Wake AHEC will provide 0.5 CEU to participants upon completion
of this activity.
Contact Hours: Wake AHEC will provide up to 5.25 contact hours to participants.
Public School Personnel Renewal Credit (PSPR): Certificates for 5.25 contact hours
of education will be awarded at the completion of the program.
Participants must attend 100% of each session selected to receive credit.
